Thankful Thursday

I am thankful today that my sister is here for a visit. Although we talk on the phone almost every day, I haven't seen her in a year. In this picture I am about 7 and my sister is 4. There is something special about a sister. She grows up with the same experiences and values as you do. She gets your jokes. She remembers you when you were young and energetic and optimistic about life. We have been through a lot together and I love her more than anything.

While she is here we probably won't go anywhere. We will sit around and talk and laugh, maybe go for a walk. To anyone looking on it might seem like a boring time, but it won't be to us. We will enjoy every precious minute spent together. It will be wonderful!!

Here are the others joining in on Thankful Thursday. Hope you have time to visit them. It helps me be more thankful when I hear what others are thankful for.

Since my sister is here I won't be posting for a few days.
So I am thankful for my sister and that she has come to visit. What are you thankful for today?

Giving and Receiving

A beautiful card from a special friend in The Netherlands.
Some goodies.
Don't you love it when you get a package in the mail? It happens so seldom at our house. So it is even more exciting when I know something is on its way. I won a giveaway from Carolien in The Netherlands and she emailed last week to tell me she had sent it. So for the last couple of days I have been watching expectantly for the mail to arrive.

Saturday it came!

Carolien is very skilled at cross stitch and quilting and she knows I love color and I am a quilter, so she made this mini pillow especially for me. It has quilt patterns in each of the 4 sections and is filled with lavender. I love it! Look at all those perfect little stitches. She also gave me these wonderful stork scissors with a fob, custom made for me with blue and white beads. How did she know I had no decent scissors for snipping threads?
There was also a package of delicious Dutch coffee candies!

That's the "receiving" part of this post. To find out about the "giving" part, click here . I'd love it if one of the bloggers I knew won it!

Pink Saturday

It's pink Saturday again! Thanks to Beverly for hosting this event each week. Once again there are a lot of participants. Hope you have time to visit some of them.

Welcome to my little Pink Saturday house. Some of you thought that I really lived here. I just make believe it's my house on Pink Saturday. The rest of the week it belongs to someone else. So those beautiful flowers and shrubs I showed you last week are just pretend too. I fooled quite a few of you didn't I?

There are 5 bedrooms in my little pink house. It doesn't look big enough for 5 bedrooms does it? But since it's only make believe I can have as many bedrooms as I like! So if you'd like to come and visit me, I have plenty of room for overnight guests. Which room would you like?

It's hard to decide isn't it because they are all so beautiful.
By the way, thanks for all your prayers for our grandson. He came home from the hospital yesterday.
Have fun visiting the other blogs. Just click here to see the list of all the participants.
I am taking part in the One World One Heart giveaway. You can read about it on my previous post.

Thankful Thursday

Today for Thankful Thursday I am thankful for our great bathroom. Our bedroom is blue and white so this matches it so perfectly. Unfortunately our bathroom doesn't look anything like this! I think our bathroom was probably renovated in the 1970's. It just has one sink, toilet and an ordinary bathtub with a plastic shower curtain and the tile is all white. So what's to like about that?

Well, it faces out on to a woods and so we have no need for any curtains on the windows. So as I am brushing my teeth or blow-drying my hair I can look out on a beautiful scene: the woods, the birds at the feeder or the birdbath, and occasionally some deer wandering by. We have a clear plastic shower curtain, so when the sun is shining and I am having a shower the sun shines right in and it almost feels like I could be outside. I love it!

Here is a list of the other participants in Thankful Thursday. Why not spread thankfulness around and visit them if you can.

So today I am thankful for my "bathroom with a view".

Since I wrote this post last night I have something much more important to be thankful for today. Our little 2 1/2 year old grandson Christopher has been in the hospital since Sunday night, with a very serious infection. The antibiotics have finally started to work. The infection is under control and they're letting him go home today. They also discovered a serious spot on his lung, but when they did a second scan it was gone! We believe it was a miracle and we are praising God for that.
I am much more thankful that my precious grandson is well than for a silly old bathroom, but since I'd already posted, I thought I'd just leave it as is!

What are you thankful for today?

Added note: Christopher can't come home today after all, but I'm still thankful.

I Can't Help It!

When I look at some of the wonderful all white interiors on other blogs I just love the calm clean feeling they have. But when I try to do that in my own home....Well all I can say is I love color!!

Our bedroom is very peaceful, soft blues and lots of white, but the rest of the house looks like a box of crayons.

On the table in our front hall.

On a table in the living room.

In the guest bedroom

Quilts hanging in the TV room. Fabrics in my studio

These are just a few photos of a couple of rooms. I have color everywhere. I just can't help it!

It snowed last night and this is the beautiful scene this morning looking out at the woods in our backyard. It was wonderful to look at the winter wonderfand, seeing someone with a red hat walking along the path. A few deer wandered through, but I didn't get my camera quick enough to take a photo. The birds have been so busy fluttering around the birdfeeders.

The scene just outside my studio door.
Bushes at our side door.

And these dear little daffodils are wondering what is happening. They are almost ready to bloom.

The best thing about snow in North Carolina is we can enjoy the beauty of it, knowing that this time tomorrow it will be gone, no shovelling, no plowing, no slush!

Winter for one day. It's perfect!
