Spring Planter

I was at a wonderful nursery the other day that had beautiful planters filled with plants and they were expensive!  So being the cheapskate  thrifty person that I am I decided to make one myself.
I filled  this nice white planter which I already had with some potting soil and then I went to my garden to see what was growing.
Some small hostas that the deer hadn’t eaten yet.
A lovely groundcover which name escapes me.  It has yellow flowers when it blooms.
                                                                    Sweet woodruff
                                                                        Lamb's ears
                                                                   Saxifragia
                                                             Some decorative grass

And a fern.  I love the way the fern uncurls as it grows.  I also put in a Japanese fern (it’s the one with the rust colored leaves)  but I forgot to take a picture of it in the garden.

I jammed as much as I could into the planter.

And placed the spring planter on the table on our front porch.

I think it looks pretty good and I like the price!

I also dug up some violets that are growing all over our lawn and planted them in a cup and saucer with violets on it.  The big white planter will last all summer but this will just be pretty for another week or so.  If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you probably already saw this cup and saucer, but is is so cute I wanted to post it here too.
So those are my 2 spring planter ideas.  Maybe it will give you an idea of something to plant at your house.  Look around for anything that looks interesting that you could put some dirt in and then just have some fun.
I hope that your week is off to a good start.  We are going to visit our grandkids this week so I am VERY excited!!

Spring Tablescape

Spring is here.  Leaves are starting to bud on the trees.  The grass is green.  There are beautiful shades of green everywhere and it inspired me to do a spring tables cape.

The blooms on my viburnum start off lime green before they turn to white and a white pitcher is the perfect container for them.

Blue and white is the perfect compliment to lime green.  So for my spring tablescape that’s what I used since I just happen to have a little bit of blue and white china.

A blue checked tablecloth, covers the table and then a bouquet with viburnum, dogwood and hellebores provides the centerpiece.

No table in our house is complete without a teapot.  This was a yard sale find years ago.
Instead of using our everyday china, Blue willow,  I mixed and matched different pieces for each place setting.
I placed a fake green apple in the center of each plate to add a little more color.

Two little rabbits add to the whimsy.

and added some silver napkin rings ( should have polished them first) and napkins I got at Magpies last weekend

These bird napkin rings are antiques that we’ve had since we were first married, which will be 45 years this July.  So they are really old now :)

So that’s my spring tablescape.  Oops, just noticed I forgot to put any silverware on the table.  Oh well, it was just for fun anyhow.  We weren’t really going to have a meal  there today.

I am joining Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on  Porch and Anything Blue Friday at The Dedicated House
