Unexpected Things

Good morning friends

Isn't it fun when you receive an unexpected package in the mail? My dear friend Angela sent me this pretty package filled with all kinds of pampering goodies: lotion, body spray, scrubbie, bath salts, floating candles and CHOCOLATE ! Thank you Angela. All I did was give her a little advice when she asked for it. I am constantly amazed at the generosity of all you bloggers!

Another unexpected thing: We put birdfeeders in our yard and expect birds. Well look who was visiting the feeder late Sunday afternoon! The picture isn't too clear because I shot it through the screen in the window.
I think that deer are so pretty and it is always a treat to see them, but they sure do a lot of damage to my flowers, especially the Hosta. We have been having a drought here and last summer they ate everything in sight! If anyone has a way of keeping the deer from eating your plants, I'd love to know it.

Hope that you have a great day and that something unexpected and good will happen in your life today.

  2. Rhondi....
I too had a surprise gift today. When I opened the front door to get the paper there was a gift bag on the front porch. Cute notecards inside. could they be from the newspaper guy? Don't think so.

  3. Ohhh. Hosta's are one of my favorites...I can't wait to see them poking through.
I forget where I have planted some of mine and it is a real unexpected treat when I spot the first tight little buds appear!

Thanks for sharing your deer with us. Very sweet.
Nothing has happened to me like that yet today. Maybe tomorrow.

  6. Oh what a pretty little package of goodies!
And I love the photo of the deer. My sister has deer in her back yard; she tries to put in plants that they don't like to eat, they still manage to find things to nibble on. What beautiful creatures they are.

  7. Hi Rhondi! Thank you for your nice comment about my bird photos. I love to watch birds and I have several feeders close to the house. It looks like you do the same thing I do ... I take photos through the unscreened windows. We live in the woods and have trees very close to our house, so I can get pretty good photos. We have deer too!

    Have a wonderful week!

  11. Hi Rhondi.
I grew up in New England where deer often visited. It sounds strange, but try Lifebuoy brand soap.

Shave it (or grate it in a cheese grater) and mix it with water to make a thick solution. Put it in a spray bottle and spray your tulips, geraniums, hostas, and other plants deer love to snack on. The deer hate it, and... bonus! It is a natural insecticide.

  12. Tee hee! Your welcome--I really appreciated your help! That deer is too cute! I don't yet have a deer problem, but if we get a little further away from the city, I definitely will. It'll be hard to shoo them away from the garden, for sure.
