An Important Day

This is an important day for our country and an important day for my husband and me. It is the first presidential election we have been able to vote for since we became US citizens. I didn't realize how much I valued the right to vote until we moved here from Canada and we were unable to. It is such a privilege.

We were happy today to be able to cast a ballot today for our choice for president. I was going to wear this jacket for the occasion, but it was too chilly because we were there when the doors opened!

But I was proud to put this sticker on and will wear it when I go out later today.

We have watched the campaign over the last year with great interest and much sadness as the media has supported everything Obama has said and done and been critical of everything McCain has said and done. The coverage has been so biased and the people have not been able to get a true picture of either candidate.
I know people are tired of the present government and want change. We all do, but I am really concerned about Obama's lack of experience and all the unanswered questions about him. He is a gifted speaker and has a charismatic personality but what about his character?
This campaign reminds me so much of Trudeamania, which took over the election in Canada many years ago. Pierre Trudeau was elected as Prime Minister and he plunged the country into socialism and changed the country forever.
Well I'll get off my soapbox now. No matter what happens I will be praying that the next president will use wisdom and put the true interests of the American people first.
Make sure you vote.

  1. Hi again, Rhondi -
Welcome to the wonderful world of U.S. voters! Congratulations. Yes, you do have first-hand knowledge of what could come. We have dear Canadian friends who have shared much about life in Canada with us. We understand a bit of what we may be headed for. But we are praying - and voting!

  5. Congratulations on your first vote! How wonderful:>) I share your concerns about OBama. Yes people are tired of the current administration but Each president brings his own weaknesses and strengths to the office and anyone who goes in will change things their way. People shouldn't paint the whole party with the same brush when it is mostly one man. That is silly. I hope and pray that God will lead us in this choice!

  10. Congrats on your first vote Rhondi. I feel really bad for America this morning and indeed for the world as I truly feel as if they have voted in the wrong man and as the most influential and powerful man in the world we will all reap the consequences.

  11. Hi Rhondi,

Congratulations on casting your first vote as a US citizen! It is such a precious privilege.

I am also disappointed by the election results. But I read something this morning that reminded me that God is still in control. For the next 4 years, I'll be clinging to that & praying for our country like never before!

P.S. I love your new banner photo!

  12. I didn't realize this was your first time to vote. I agree, the media was very bias. I think we all better be sure to put God in our daily lives. We will need our faith to get through this.

  14. Hello Rhondi, I was so devastated at the outcome of the election that I actually wept. The next day I couldn't even speak when I went to work. I was even angry at God, I'm ashamed to say, although I've talked to Him a lot the past few days and I know He forgives me.

On a positive note, if Obama does nothing else, I feel that God is using him to heal a rift that has plagued our country for hundreds of years. And maybe, just maybe for the first time in maybe forever, young black boys and girls realize that they are a very important productive part of society and they can be anything they want to be.

However, I am still scared to death about what will happen with so many things. His view are just anti-American to say the least.
