It's the kind of day that is perfect for pouring a cup of tea and curling up with a good book, but that's what I did yesterday when it was sunny and hot!
We went to the 8:30 service at church and when we got home the temperature was still quite pleasant, so John and I sat in the rocking chairs on the front porch and read until it got too hot. I spent the whole rest of the day inside reading Savannah's Garden by Debbie Macomber. What an indulgence to just read a book all day long, uninterrupted. It was a good story and an easy read and I finished it by late afternoon.
If I hadn't spent yesterday reading a book, that's what I would want to do today, but a girl's got to do some work sometime. So off I go to start the laundry, get out the vacuum, scrub the bathrooms and dust. I don't like doing housework but I love the end result when the house is all clean.
I hope I don't get too sidetracked, because you know what happens when you clean: the fluffing and puttering often takes over.... that's the fun part!

I'm glad you stopped by for a visit today. I'll put the kettle on for some tea.

Hi Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteYour home sure looks all cozy. We, too, have had a lot of those rainy, dark, turn-the-lamps-on kinda days lately. Hope "my" little b&w lamp is still brightening up your dreary days. ;)
I love Debbie Macomber! When I'm not reading blogs, I love to read her.
It's hot and dry here today. A little rain would be nice. I like the result but not the cleaning too. Mimi
ReplyDeleteIt's a relief to even look at the picture of your home with shadows. It's so hot here we desperately need relief.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good day to me. I love those days. I have that same book but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I'm glad to hear that it is a good book. Maybe one day I will be able to sit down and have a relaxing day like that.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lee Laurie
LOL! Yes cleaning always involves a bit of fluffing for me. I'm going to have my lazy day today. We had storms all night and I didn't sleep well so I don't really feel like doing much. I'm going to flip through some old magaznes and I have a Netflix movie to watch.
ReplyDeleteHave fun cleaning and fluffing!
Manuela
;) ;),
ReplyDeleteSoft hug,
Rhonda
I love reading Debbie Macomber's books, they leave you with a good feeling!
ReplyDeleteWish we had rain here! Our temp today will be 113. At least that is what the news says. lol, I think it is hotter!
Take Care,
Cherrie
Hi, Rhondi -
ReplyDeleteWe're having one of those kind of days here today, too. I'd love to stay home and read but I have an appointment and then back home to do some desk work for my chaplain ministry. I love Debbie Macomber's books, especially Susannah's Garden. Have a good day - even though you're doing housework. Hope you get a chance to relax a bit before the day is over!
~Adrienne~
A wonderful quiet day is just the best. Now on with reality. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteIt sounded like you had a great day. One of my favorite things to do is to crawl into my big ole comfy chair with a lap quilt and read a book. Also with a candle burning on the table and a cup of tea to sip.

What a great day you had yesterday! Would love to be able to do that with my hubby! But life is always so busy around here. Sometimes I hardly have time to stop! My house needs some cleaning as well, but that will have to wait for another day. Of course I could be doing my cleaning instead of on the computer right now, but I have priorities!!! Anyway, I have just a few minutes before i head out the door to run my son somewhere. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteWe always have that sort of day on a Sunday, settle down after church with the weekend newspapers, potter in the garden, lovely!
ReplyDeleteRhondi, I can think of nothing better (except to paint) than to read a book on a rainy day. The weather here in Florida has been so hot but with AC we stay comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI love your drapes and the mirror behind the chair.
Hi Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy a rainy day too-occasionally!
I also read that book awhile ago and enjoyed it too.
Today is a strawberry picking day for me.
Carolyn
I love a good book and a snuggly blanket! Usually I have to wait till the kids go to bed for that though as they always are interrupting me for something! Enjoy your cleaning! :0)
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi, Your blog is so inviting...I was gone for a few days and now I'm catching up...The post before this one looked like fun! I like going shopping in little towns you find such neat things. I loved the store with the kitchen section... there were so many things I would have liked to have bought... So your having a rainy day, we are sunny and warm but I would rather have your rainy day so I could curl up with a few magazines......Thank you for the tea and the sweet conversation! hugs, Jennifer
ReplyDeleteI bought that book at a thrift shop and thought that even if I didn't read it I loved the picture on the front cover. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I will have to make it a point to read it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect day to rest and read. We had a very busy weekend.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean that cleaning leads to lots of fluffing but that's what we all love to do, Fluff.
Enjoy your day,
Elizabeth
Hello Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteI also love those days when it's raining and it is a dark day,it can be so cosy inside. But not to many of these days when it is summer of course. When I was reading your post I made myself a nice cup of tea too.
Have a lovely week,hugs Ingrid.
I love to spend a lazy day reading on the porch or on the swing. I'll have to take out Debbie MacComber from the library. I'm always on the look out for a good book.
ReplyDeleteLucky you. I love Debbie Macomber books. What a lovely way to spend a wet day.
ReplyDeleteHow inviting your decor & the lovely setting ... I'll be right over. TTFN ~Marydon
ReplyDeleteToo hot for hot tea, but sure would enjoy some iced tea and a good book. Thanks for the recommendation on the Macomber book. Sally
ReplyDeleteA cozy day at home reading....sounds heavenly! I read that book last year and loved it. I know how you feel about cleaning...after so many years I got tired of it but it is a necessity and it does make you feel so good when everything is clean!
ReplyDelete~Patti
Thank you so much for stopping by-it is so nice to meet you. I enjoyed reading about your day and I feel relaxed and refreshed just reading about it. Have a wonderful week.

That does look like such a cozy spot to sit and read. Love that mirror propped against the wall, and your window treatments are so pretty. Sounds like a wonderful afternoon. laurie
ReplyDeleteA Day of Rest! We should all heed this and do it each Sunday! ;-)
ReplyDeleteKatherine
Sounds like a wonderful day! Glad you got to have a little R&R.:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good day, Rhondi. I spent part of Sunday watching a pool full of wiggly, giggly children swim and play and then eat birthday cake and ice cream and swim and play some more! It was a very, very good day. :-)
ReplyDeleteMonday was a slower day, but it's been good, too. We've had showers mixed with sun. Glad you're having nice weather...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Hi Rhondi, I wish we could have a rainy day. It has been so hot here in Southern California where I live. Around 100 today and tomorrow will be hotter.
