Recycled Bedspreads and Sweaters

I love to sew and find it hard to resist old things made of fabric: tablecloths, bedding, curtains, clothing, lace, or linens, especially if they are handmade.  They may sit on a shelf for awhile  before I do anything with them, but I just love the idea of reusing them in some way.  This is our  couch in the TV room with a bedspread just thrown over it.  It's been that way for quite awhile because it wasn't large enough to make a slipcover and I couldn't find another thrifted spread to use with it.  I was always straightening it up because it was always falling off.

 Finally this weekend I actually found 2  white bedspreads at the Metrolina  Antique Show.  It's not the same pattern but that doesn't matter because but it's white and the same thickness, so it matches fine.

Did you notice my wonderful arrangement of objects on the wall?  Both photos have got a half finished wall treatment!  I just haven't figured out what to put on the wall yet.  Usually I can put together an arrangement of stuff on the wall really quickly but everything I've tried so far looks too "decorated" and I want something that looks like it has evolved over time. I used to have a quilt hanging there which looked great, but the sun shines in too much so I was concerned about the quilt fading and so it is ...half done

Now as well as fabric I am on the lookout for old sweaters.  At Value Village today I found 2 pale pink cashmere sweaters and one of those authentic Irish "fisherman" sweaters made in Ireland, for only $5 for the lot!  Not sure what I am going to do with them.  I am very enamored with sweater pillows these days and they would all make great pillows, but now I am thinking I might save the cashmere until I find a few more and make a throw.  It would be so soft and cozy to wrap up in on a cold evening.
