Blue in the Garden

This is the time of year where my garden becomes blue and I just wanted to share 2 of my favorites with you. I just love this salvia guaranitica. This one is almost 5 feet tall and it will produce blooms late into the fall. Here it is up close. The hummingbirds love it.
Then of course there are the blue hydrangeas. I love the way they start out a green color, then get lighter nad eventually are a beautiful blue. This bush is 6 feet wide and the flowers are still pretty small and only a few have begun to turn blue.
Here is one with blue coming out around the edges. Eventually it will be a lovely deep blue.
I am so excited about the great response for the porch party. We have bloggers signed up from as far away as England, Argentina, Norway, Sweden and Germany There is still time to join in, so tell your friends. You can read the details on my post last Friday titled Front Porch Party.

    Rhondi, that salvia is unbelievable. I've never seen one grow that large.

    I can hardly wait until Thursday. I have taken my pictures, but I still need to work on my post. Thank you for doing this for us.

    We have salvia in our garden too & it gets so big we separate it so it's all over the garden now & in some of our neighbours :-} Your front porch party sounds like lots of fun.

    I love just love blue in the garden...well... I love blue any where....don't you adore salvia.... it is such a great plant. I was just out taking pictures of the shade of blue of my hygrangeas..
    Please count me in on the porch day...see ya at the front porch..

    I love hydrangeas and salvia, also. The salvia I have is the regular bedding plant variety, Victoria. I have it in lots of pots. It always attracts Mr. Bumble, which is a large black bee that my grandsons just love to watch. I just got the new Endless Bloom hydrangea and she is just georgeous!

    Blues are colours that I love in a garden. I have a lovely blue Anchusa which is like a little cloud of pale blue. My blue delphiniums are looking good, and the Campanulas are about to come out.
    Please Rhondi, I need your help in where to send a porch photo?

    Oh, blue flowers are my absolute favorites! I love that salvia! I have never tried to grow hydrangea, and I'm not sure why, because it is such a beauty for so long -- in bud, in flower and as it dries...Your blue hydrangeas are gorgeous!

    The blue is gorgeous!! I think that pink is my favorite color in the garden, but blue is my favorite color over all. These are terrific! I particularly love the hydrangea.

    Glad your having a good response to the porch party, I wanted to be a part of this but I am leaving on a 7 day trip on Thursday...any ideas how to work that out, someone said you can do a post then save it and remote post???

    OM GOSH!!!! I have never seen a salvia that big! I love salivia's they are on my top 3 of my favorites. O kay I am jealus now! I am going to have to try to get mine t grow tht big.I love the fact that it is so busy also mine are thin and tall. They are faithful little guys, they come back every year and visit me. Thank-you so much for sharing. I love your blog name by the way. What a great way to see things! I hope to be back to visit your front porch party.

    When I first saw your salvia, I thought it was salvia gargantuan, not guarantica! It is huge! Gorgeous!

    Hi Rhondi, It's nice to meet you. Rue sent me over here, from her blog. I don't have a blog, I've been trying to start one, but I keep getting lost. :O I do have a front porch, but my hubby is in the middle of painting it right now, so it's not looking it's best. However, our back porch is looking great. :)Maybe you can see it at RMS. I think your party idea is great. Have fun.
