Believe

Are you like me?  As soon as Christmas is over I can't wait to take the decorations down and get my house back to normal.  This year I feel like that even before Christmas arrives!

I used to love decorating the house from top to bottom with lots of red and white and greens, garlands on the mantles and over doorways, snowmen, Santas, Christmas plates, etc.

I never thought I'd say this but I don't want more, I want less.  It used to be that I'd have 5 things on a table, but now one is enough.  So as the months go by you are going to see a change in the look of my home.  But right now it's Christmas so I have done a little decorating for the season.

I bought this wonderful "BELIEVE" sign at Olde Tyme Marketplace and  I plan to use it all year long.
Then I cut some branches from the yard and hung a few thrifted vintage blue balls and crocheted snowflakes I've found at yard sales over the years.

Propped a mirror up behind it.  No use putting ANOTHER  hole in the wall unnecessarily :)

I love the way you can see the reflection of our living room in the mirror.  A tip: mirrors are great for making a space feel larger.
I put the branches in one of my signature blue and white vases and added some extra blue balls in a dish.

This is what greets our guests when they come to visit.  I wished YOU lived closer and  really were able to visit me!
I like it.  It's simple, pretty, and inexpensive.

I hope you have a great weekend!

  1. Oh, I love what you've done. So simple and beautiful! I love the crocheted snowflakes on the branch. I'm right there with you, my friend - I don't even want to unpack most of my decorations this year. Your words could have been my words! I want things to be different - and simple. There is beauty in simplicity!

  5. I am just like you....every holiday season now I just don't want to do too much. As I am putting it out I am thinking about getting it all boxed up again! What is up with that?? I think it is my age and the fact that I don't have the visitors that I used to have. My dad you used to "ooohhhh and ahhhhh" over everything I did, now that he is gone, no one seems to care. I find that simple is much better and easier to do now. I do love your simple but elegant decor greeting!~Hugs, Patti

  6. I absolutely love it. I am just a little shy of a minimalist. Perhaps maybe a simplest.

  8. It's so you, Rhondi - elegant and simple - perfect.
I've been going through my boxes of Christmas decorations and passing some of the treasures on to my two children. I give some away at the beginning of each year, and this year I put some in my son's package, mailed just this morning. I know he'll have a trip down memory lane when he opens it.

  9. Rhondi,

I've been the fly on the wall who has been enjoying your posts in silence.

However, this post is worthy of a "well done." Thank you for sharing this simple and meaningful way to stay focused on the heart of this holiday celebration.

    Write on.
