It was stained brown when we moved here and we continued to stain it. Then last year I got the idea to paint it, grey on the floor and white on the railing.
It took us a year to finally get around to it but this spring our son painted it for us.
What a difference!
It turned out so much better than I had envisoned and I just love the look.
I haven't put any plants out there or decorated it at all and until I do we'll just enjoy it the way it is.
I am going to host my 3rd annual summer porch party again this year on June 21, the first day of summer. That gives you lots of time to get ready for it. Hope you'll join the party! I have posted this button on my sidebar, so copy it and spread the word. If you don't have a porch, a patio or deck would be welcome too!
For any of you who are new, I'll have my post up the night before and you just come and sign up with the Mr Linky then.
Maybe I'll have my party on our freshly painted deck.....
I hope you're having a restful weekend. That's what I am trying to do.
Rhondi xo
It looks wonderful Rhondi! Look how much lighter it looks out there. I am going to be away during your porch party this year, but I look forward to reading all about it when I return.

ReplyDeleteCindy
Well I can't wait! I think I may include some pictures from my neighbors porches too. We have a real front porch neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Rhondie!....and I hope you made your son a fabulous dinner in exchange!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering, just this morning, about you and how you might be doing.
I remember last year's porch party, so I'll look forward to this years version!
Hi Rhondi, Love the deck, both ways are wonderful but I especially love the white. Love the atmosphere you have. I'm just starting working on the yard as we are still getting a bit of snow every now and again.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
Noreen
Oh! Five star job, five star results! Love it!
ReplyDeleteRhondi, what a difference it makes to paint the railing white. This is a beautiful deck with the two levels and all that wooded area. I know that when you have your pots of plants full of blooms it is really magical. Thanks for hosting the porch party. I hope to join in the fun. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteLove the painted look and the grey on the bottom is great looking. Much better then all white.

ReplyDeleteRhondi, it looks fantastic! Makes me want to paint mine. I shall take your little button home to Cozy Little House and it will be my reminder. Love your deck!

ReplyDeleteYour deck is beautiful anyway, but the new paint makes it look like something from a magazine!
ReplyDeleteYour party sounds like fun. I will see if I can make my porch look worthy to participate :)
Your freshly painted deck looks beautiful, Rhondi! Love it. What a beautiful spot to spend time.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

You are definitely ready for summer now! Everything looks so inviting. Tickled to hear you will be doing another Porch Party - last year's was such fun. Hoping our logs will be all finished by then with stain & sealer. This will give me time to "set a proper table!"
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the time it takes to set this up for us.
Rhondi....Wow! That looks terrific! What a beautiful, restful, and serene setting! You had a great idea when you thought of painting it the white and gray! It looks beautiful set against the green foliage!~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteWow, Rhondi. Your deck is absolutely beautiful. Such a sweet son you have. I will definitely be joining you this year for your porch party. I am finally getting mine finished from last fall's storm that took my little porch out.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely porch, Rhondi! Charming. You made the right choices with colors.
ReplyDeleteAnd you live in a beautiful wooded area! You're only 15 minutes from a city? Amazing.
Thondi, I just love the deck!! It is spectacular!!
ReplyDeleteI meant Rhondi, sorry about that typo!
ReplyDeleteRhondi, it looks fantastic. I love, love, love it.
ReplyDeleteWe have white rails on our deck, too. They even have the ball topper on the posts.
You know I'll be there for your party. It is a must do for me.
Rhondi, just discovered your blog, courtesy of Brenda at COZY LITTLE HOUSE. Your deck is amazing! I could easily see myself in that hammock, snoozing away a summer afternoon! Looks like a little piece of heaven! Love it!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your quilts, too!

It's beautiful. I've been thinking about doing the same thing for 2 years, as mine is stained, too. Maybe next year. I really appreciate the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous deck, but what a big job to paint. I will put your badge on my blog. Can't wait to see your lovely porch party.
Karen
I loved your deck before the paint, but how AMAZING it looks with the addition of the colors! I would love to transport that to our house...we have lots and lots of concrete! I am happy with it, but I LOVE your look of painted wood.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your porch party on the 21st of June! Hope your real estate career is going well!
dana
It looks beautiful! I don't think you even need any plants on the porch - the scenery is so gorgeous by it's self! I'll try to remember the porch party!
ReplyDeleteManuela
Oh I just LOVE the new look to your deck!! We did the same thing earlier this year and what a transformation! We did a cinnamon red stain and a hunter green on the rails. I like the gray and white very much! Hope you have a wonderful summer and I will try to be by more often...
ReplyDeleteLisa in Kentucky
Your porch is beautiful! What a fun idea, I'm so happy to be invited!
ReplyDeleteMarcia
I'll be there! Fun times. :)
ReplyDeleteThe deck looks fabulous painted like that Rhondi! I hope you are enjoying it this Memorial Day.

Heidi
That is one amazing deck to begin with, but gy painting the floor/deck grey and the railings white, it is an amazing transformation! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm grabbing your button for your party.
I'm hosting a new meme that you might be interested in joining. it's called "Summer Sundays" and it's all about what summer means to you - like a freshly painted deck. Hope you'll come and join the fun.
- The Tablescaper
Your deck is the exact same color scheme as ours - gray decking and white railing. We have to paint every two years, but I believe it's worth it. I hope to attend your June 21 porch party!
