Painted The Deck

We have a large 2 level deck at the back of our house.  It sits in the trees and when we sit out there, it is easy to forget that we live just 15 minutes from the city.
It was stained brown when we moved here and we continued to stain it.  Then last year I got the idea to paint it, grey on the floor and white on the railing.

It took us a year to finally get around to it but this spring our son painted it for us.
What a difference!

It turned out so much better than I had envisoned and I just love the look.

I haven't put any plants out there or decorated it at all and until I do we'll just enjoy it the way it is.

I am going to host my 3rd annual summer porch party again this year on June 21, the first day of summer.  That gives you lots of time to get ready for it.  Hope you'll join the party!  I have posted this button on my sidebar, so copy it and spread the word. If you don't have a porch, a patio or deck would be welcome too!
For any of you who are new, I'll have my post up the night before and you just come and sign up with the Mr Linky then.

Maybe I'll have my party on our freshly painted deck.....

I hope you're having a restful weekend.  That's what I am trying to do.

  7. Hi Rhondi, Love the deck, both ways are wonderful but I especially love the white. Love the atmosphere you have. I'm just starting working on the yard as we are still getting a bit of snow every now and again.
    Have a wonderful week.

  9. Rhondi, what a difference it makes to paint the railing white. This is a beautiful deck with the two levels and all that wooded area. I know that when you have your pots of plants full of blooms it is really magical. Thanks for hosting the porch party. I hope to join in the fun. ~ Sarah

  22. You are definitely ready for summer now! Everything looks so inviting. Tickled to hear you will be doing another Porch Party - last year's was such fun. Hoping our logs will be all finished by then with stain & sealer. This will give me time to "set a proper table!"
Thank you for all the time it takes to set this up for us.

I'm grabbing your button for your party.

I'm hosting a new meme that you might be interested in joining. it's called "Summer Sundays" and it's all about what summer means to you - like a freshly painted deck. Hope you'll come and join the fun.

  45. Your deck is the exact same color scheme as ours - gray decking and white railing. We have to paint every two years, but I believe it's worth it. I hope to attend your June 21 porch party!
