Sometimes I Wonder

Sometimes I wonder who visits me here at Rose Colored Glasses and where you have come from. I have a counter so I know people visit but it's kind of like this hosta from our garden. There is evidence of a visitor, in this case the deer, but I seldom get to see them. They come and go without me knowing. I know they live in the woods , but not exactly sure where.
Our neighbor's sweet cat, Norman, comes over here a lot and hangs around. He must enjoy being here or else he wouldn't drop by so much. But being a cat, he often pays no attention to me, just sleeps under our bushes for awhile and then leaves . Occasionally he'll let me pet him, and I just love it when he does!
So this morning I am wondering who reads my blog? The counter that I have says I have lots of visitors each day, but I wonder if it's accurate. If you visit today I'd love to know and I'd like to visit you too. Sometimes I wonder.....who's out there and where are you from?
Hope you have a great weekend.

Thankful Thursday

I got out of the habit of posting about something I am thankful for on Thursday but I want to start doing it again. My garden is full of weeds because we were away and we've had a lot of rain and I don't like mosquitoes. But in the midst of a very untidy garden the individual flowers still look beautiful! Here are a few of them.
That is how it is with life. Things can be going very wrong, or it can be a very stressful time and yet in the midst of it you can still find something to be thankful for, some "flowers among the weeds".
Today I am thankful that there are flowers among the weeds of my garden that is my life.
What are you thankful for today?

Roadside Beauty

I drive by them every time I am out on an errand, a whole field full of Queen Anne's Lace by the side of the road. They look so pretty and lacy and stand up so tall in among the long grass.
Yesterday I couldn't resist any longer. I just had to pick some!

Click on the photo above and you can see tinges of pink in it. Isn't that beautiful?
They look just perfect in a white pitcher sitting on a white wicker chair.
It calms my soul just looking at them. In the midst of a busy stressful day sometimes just a moment to reflect on something beautiful can give me the peace that I'm longing for. Maybe it will do the same for you today.

My Visit To The White Huse

I want to thank all of you who joined in the porch party and who came to visit. Everyone went to a lot of trouble to make us all feel welcome and it was so much fun. Some of you joined in while I was away so I haven't had a chance to come visit you yet!

To rest up after all the excitement we went to The White House for a few days. Well it wasn't actually "the" White House. My cousin's last name is White and we stayed with them while we were in PA for a wedding.

Here is the quilt I made for the bride and groom. We used to live there and so whenever we are back for a visit there are a couple of places I always have to go to. One is the Neighborhood League consignment shop where I used to volunteer. This is a shot of the area where all the glass and china is. You can always find something wonderful there and I did!

I found this cup and saucer which is the pattern of the china we used when I was growing up. It was my birthday that day and so finding this was a special birthday present for me! I don't know what happened to that china but I don't have any pieces of it, so I was excited. The prices are always great there too. This is Wedgwood and it was only $8.50.

One of my other favorite places to visit is Waterloo Gardens. I'd like to have a few of these blue planters on my patio.
When we arrived home there were 2 packages waiting for me from giveaways I had won!! The first was this beautiful lamp from My Cottage Of Bliss. Right now I've got it lighting up a corner of the kitchen. It looks right at home! Isn't it perfect?

I also won some goodies from My Shabby Rose Cottage. I thought I was just getting a jewelled cross, but there was also a heart shaped tin and these cute little cards wrapped in pretty voile sacs. Whenever I go away it always takes me a while to get back into the routine of things. I got a washing going and then went out to the garden to pick some hydrangeas. The bush still has lots of blooms on it despite being destroyed by the falling tree. I love hydrangeas!
Hope you enjoy your Monday. I am just trying to regroup after being away for 5 days! I'll be around to visit soon.

Porch Party 2

I don't know what is going on here but sometimes all the links disappear on the last post!!!! If that happens to you and you can't see them just try again a few minutes later. It seems to be temperamental or something. I have had so many glitches setting up this party, but it's been worth it. Your porches are all wonderful and so many bloggers have visited.

Welcome to My Porch Party

Hi. I've been expecting you. I'm so excited that the party is finally here. I've been looking forward to visiting all your wonderful porches. I'm glad you've stopped in to see me, so come on up the walk and have a seat. You'd better grab a rocking chair quickly before the rest of the guests arrive!

I told my little rabbits to watch out for you and to make sure they made you feel welcome.

Come and have a seat and let's have a chat. I don't look too comfortable here because I set the timer and then ran to sit down before it snapped the picture!I made you some lemon squares and have a pot of tea ready. Do you take milk or sugar?I am using my Dainty Blue tea set because you are a special guest. If you prefer sweet tea I have some set up on the tea wagon. And if any of you brought your children or grandchildren I have a little chair for them too.
I asked my little stone rabbit to wait by the front door to help me greet all of you. I think he might be a distant cousin to Dana's stone rabbit.

Do you remember how I told you I had named our house "Rest and be Thankful" ? Well I finally got around to putting up sign above our front door.Well I know you have lots of other porches to visit and I hope you get a chance to visit them all so I'll say good bye for now. There are some wonderful parties going on and I know they would love you to leave a comment when you go there. They are listed below.
