Thankful Thursday

This Thursday I am thinking about my dad. It is his birthday today. He would have been 88. He was the greatest guy and I am so thankful to have had him for a father. He taught me so much about having integrity, working hard, caring about others and loving unconditionally. He died 28 years ago and I still miss him.
I love this picture of him in his air force uniform. He was so handsome.
Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor has also posted today about being thankful for someone in her family who is no longer with them. Today I am thankful for my awesome dad. What are you thankful for today?

  3. I did a post this morning about my great grandma. Her birthday was today too. She would've been 108 today. I am so thankful that I had her for as long as I did. Your dad was a very handsome man. He sounds like he was a very good dad too. Isn't it good that we still have our memories of these special ones?

Stop by my blog sometimes if you have time.

  8. Lovely picture of your dad, Rhondi. I wonder, was he in the RCAF? My dad was - it was a small airforce, so they may well have known one another. It's a wonderful, small world. I might show the photo to my dad when he's over next time.

  9. My dad was in the RCAF as well. I am thankful that he is still alive. He's 75 now and I don't know how much longer I'll have him here to enjoy, but I treasure every moment.

  11. I'm thankful for the sacrifice that your dad made for us by wearing that uniform, Rhondi! My father was injured and couldn't go (he tried!), but my uncle was on a destroyer in the Pacific theatre. My husband's grandfather was a surgeion in a MASH unit that operated underground in some Pacific islands.

I'm thankful for my father, too, in that he taught me all about how much a father can love a child. It set me on the road to having a good relationship with God because I understand the love of a wonderful father. My dad had tremendous integrity, a good sense of humor, a keen mind, unswerving loyalty, and was the perfect gentleman. Yep, I'm a Daddy's girl, and my father died 35 years ago this past August. Like you, I miss him every day and my mother, too. But oh, how grateful I am to have had wonderful parents! I can tell you feel the same! :-)

    XO,

    Sheila
