Spray Paint

You've got to love spray paint. It comes in so many colors and it can instantly change an object. It all started with this beautiful aqua color. I planned to paint a wicker chair for our guest room. But then I changed my mind and put the chair in our bedroom, which has pale blue walls. So I used the aqua to paint this metal planter which was white with lots of rust. Watch out! If you're sitting still you might get sprayed!
This little basket was next to be transformed. I hope that it says "welcome" at our front door. I like this color. It makes me think of robin's eggs. I covered up the black on the planter that I got last week at the yard sale. You'll see the rest of it when I get something to go in it. Over the years, this wicker chair has been white, dark green, adobe red and now yellow!
My original idea was to paint the wicker with the aqua, but then I decided I'd put it in our bedroom and paint it yellow. For now now it's going to sit in the kitchen. We don't have any table or chairs in our kitchen, but now if you come by you can sit here while I make us a cup of tea. But you better hurry because I might move it somewhere else very soon!
Anyone else like to spray paint? Have you spray painted anything lately?

  1. I'm not as crafty as some people. I do put a fresh coat of Krylon on my patio furniture every summer. You are so right, paint makes all things new!

  6. Looks great! I passed up an old wicker magazine holder yesterday because I did not know what to do with it. It needed to be spray painted!! Maybe I will go back on Monday and see if it is still there (although I doubt it as it was only $1.69). Great ideas, and love the yellow chair :-)

  7. I can't believe all the time I spent painting things by hand until I started blogging and discovered spray paint!!! I haven't used it yet but I have a small collection of things that I am going to do and now when I am out thrifting, I look for things I can transform with spray paint!!

I love the new picture in your header and I love the aqua plant stand~it came out beautiful. And the wicker chair is really nice too! Do you have to remove rust from wrought iron or metal before spraying? I have a heavy iron birdbath that has a lot of rust~should I use rustoleum or sand it?

Thanks for an inspiring post on spray painting AND colors!!

  8. Oh they turned out so nice. I have a baker's rack that someone tossed out that I am going to put on my covered patio but can't decide whether to paint it black or red. But you are so right everything looks so much better with a fresh coat and spraying it makes it so easy.

I stumbled across your blog and it is so lovely! I will be back for another visit.

    Enjoy your weekend,
    Sharon

  11. Love your spray paint projects. Especially the yellow wicker chair. It's perfect in your kitchen with the blue and white cushions. I bought pale yellow spray paint a day or two ago and haven't had a chance to use it yet. When I do you will be the first to see it! ~Adrienne~

  12. I love to spray paint. I'm fixing to paint my first bicycle. My friend bought me a bike at a garage sale the other day and it is aqua. I'm gonna paint it pink. I've always wanted pink bike. Your yellow chair is very pretty and the plant stand is too.

  13. Oooohhh! Spray paint...can't live without it! I have an old Singer wrought iron sewing machine base that I have topped with a granite oval. It really needed a face-lift so, it got a new coat of black paint. The SINGER logo is still awaiting it's rub-on gold leaf...love that stuff too!

So enjoyed visiting your blog today. I'll be back!
    Be blessed,

  17. Oh, well now you've got me thinking! I'm not the handiest of people but I have quite a lot of wicker plate holders and bread baskets that are just stuffed in a cupboard. I could make them my first project! Do you just use an aerosol can or do you need something special like an air brush?

Put the kettle on - I'll be right over (I wish).

    love, Angie, xx

  22. Mornin'!

I have no fewer than 8 or 9 cans of spray paint in my garage. So much fun to instantly change the way something in my home looks.

I love spray paint ~ the last thing I sprayed was actually yesterday. A hanger to attach to my deck for hanging a new solar lantern from.
