Thankful Thursday

There are so many things to be thankful for all the time.  Sometimes they are major, sometimes they are little seemingly insignificant things.  I am thankful for them all.

Today I am thankful for:

786. sunshine on a cold day

787. car lent by a friend until we can find another one

788. lessons from the birds at our feeders

789.encouragement from fellow bloggers

790. nice long chat with daughter in law in Texas

791. lots of projects to work on

792. daffodils getting ready to bloom at my back door

793. all the wonderful people I've met at church

794. weekend with my sister

795. tea from Canada

I'm getting closer to that one thousand gifts goal!

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,

If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something

For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.

During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations

Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge

Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes

They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary

Because it means you’ve made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.

A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are

also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles

and they can become your blessings.

Wednesday Whites 3

A couple of weeks ago I decided to do a post each Wednesday featuring all white.  I mentioned that it was my way to "indulge my yearning for white without redoing my whole house."   Well after only 3 white posts I realize that my love of color is just too strong to be denied.  When I used only white with this table and chairs it looked lovely but I miss the color that I usually have on it!   So this will be my final Wednesday  Whites post.   Kathleen at Faded Charm is hosting one too and she's been doing it it for along time, so it seems rather redundant for me to do it also. I know she would be happy to have you join her there.
I set the table for lunch today.

I'll fill the tureen with some nice hot soup for a cold day

By the way some of you commented on the rain in a previous photo of this table.  It's not raining.  The seal on the window is broken so on a sunny day there is moisture between the two sheets of glass.

I'll make a nice crisp green salad.

We'll have to take turns having the soup if I want to keep to the white because I only have one of these white bowls!
Some fake flowers.  Shh...don't tell the decorating gurus about that!  It's a no no.
The sun is shining.  It's a perfect day for lunch with a friend.  Will you join me?

So good bye white, you're a great color and I love you, but you just look too lonely all by yourself.
Click here if you have a white post and want to participate in Kathleen's White Wednesday.

Red and Blue Spray Paint

Spray paint is one of  the greatest inventions for DIYers. It gives an instant makeover and it's so easy to do.

I  like tables that have interesting legs.  They are very difficult to paint with a brush but are a snap with spray paint.  Imagine the hassle of painting these legs with a brush.

They are nesting tables beside my hubby's chair in our TV room.

I love theses spindles on the side of this table. Using a brush...forget it!
This little table looks so cute in our guestroom alongside the quilt and pillows I made for the bed.

Is there anything around your home that needs a fresh coat of paint?  There is  probably something.  If you've never tried spray paint, give it a go.  You'll never look back.

I discovered that there is another blogger, named Kathleen at Faded Charm who has been hosting White Wednesdays for 33 weeks and so I've decided there is no need for me to start another one.  If you had joined me last week please go over and see Kathleen and link with her from now on.  I'll probably do the same.

It might be fun to do a spring spray painting party!  What do you think?

Daisies For You

Today where I live the sky is gray, the air has a chill in it and it is pouring rain.   It's miserable.  A basket of daisies is  the perfect thing to brighten up a day like this.

I would love to be able to knock on your door and say, "These are for you!"   So I'll knock on your virtual door and say it.

These are for you!

Thankful Thursday

It's so much easier to be thankful when things are going well.  Last week my husband was in an accident.  I am thankful that he wasn't injured, but the car is a write off.  Why is it you can never buy the same car again with the amount of money the insurance company gives you? And now our oven doesn't appear to be working!

But enough about that, because today I am thinking about some of the things I am thankful for.

spending this weekend with my sister who is in Myrtle Beach this month.

a stack of good books waiting to be read.

3 cashmere sweaters at Goodwill for under $3 each on Tuesday when there is a 20% discount

a neighbor and I are going to start walking together for exercise

heard little Spencer's sweet 2 month old baby sounds on the phone

our one winter snow is over and spring is on its way

my hardworking husband

and of course I am always thankul for  my kids and grandkids, who are the joy of my life!

What are you thankful for today?

Wednesday Whites #2

Welcome to my second Wednesday Whites post.  Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope that some of you are going to post photos of your whites too!

Today I took all the blue things off my desk and replaced them with white.  I removed the blue glass on the window sill and put a couple of white pitchers there.
The fake paperwhites now sit in a GW tureen.  Speaking of GW I found 3 cashmere sweaters there today for only $2.99 each!

I think my desk looks very pretty dressed all in white.

This sweet little dish belonged to my mom.

The chairs I painted last week make a perfect backdrop for photographing white.

Isn't this a beautiful all white room?  It looks so fresh doesn't it?
Country Living

I could definitely move in here and feel right at home!  Those chairs look so comfortable and I love all the windows.

Last week I introduced you to Anette's Hus, a Swedish blog that features lots of white.  This week I want to tell you about another wonderful Swedish blog named Lilla Blanka.  Mia has beautiful photographs of her home, which is filled with white.  I know you will enjoy visiting her.

Do you have some whites you would like to show us? If you are participating in Wednesday Whites you can link in below.

Please note:  I changed the name to Wednesday Whites so I wouldn't be confused with another person who does a white post on Wednesay too, so make sure you have the new button which I put on the sidebar.

If you want to join in with your post for Wednesday Whites, here is what to do:  Write your post and use my Wednesday Whites button.  Then publish it.  After you've done that click on your title.  Then copy that URL into the Mr Linky box.  After you have linked just take a minute to leave me a comment telling me you are participating.  I am so glad you decided to join with me today.

Snow In North Carolina

It doesn't snow very often in North Carolina so when it does it's a big deal.  This weekend we had a few inches of snow here  and this morning I went outside and took a few photos.
The frost on my car.

The poor helebores which are already in bloom.

Frost on the nandina bushes.

My car windshield..
I grew up in Canada and lived there most of my life and so I was very used to having snow, lots of it, but now that I've been here in North Carolina I am happy with only an occasional snowfall.

I've changed in other ways too since we moved here. When someone asks us over for BBQ I don't expect to have chicken or steak anymore.  When someone says, "Bless her heart", I know it is not a compliment.  I've adjusted to the many of the ways they do things differently here.

But I NEVER thought I would put a teabag in a mug to make tea and think that it actually tasted good!

What I've discovered is that the teabags here are only meant for one cup of tea and I am accustomed to making tea in  teapot which means I pour more than one cup of water in the pot and so it's too weak.  I was at a friend's house this weekend and there was no teapot and only  Red Rose tea, decaf no less!  It actually tasted good.   Next thing you know I'll be calling y'all, y'all!  Translation for you northerners, that means I'll be calling everyone of you y'all.

Each Monday Mary At Little Red House hosts a Mosaic Monday.  My snow photos made such a pretty collage that I decided to join in with her today.  Make sure you visit Mary where you can see lots of beautiful photography.

I hope today is a great start to a great week for you.
