And these are photos of mothers across the world and across the generations.
I love this little story someone emailed to me awhile ago. Perhaps you've read it already, but in case you haven't......
Why are you crying, a young boy asked his Mom? "Because I'm a woman," she told him. "I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will, but that's O.K.".......
Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does Mom seem to cry for no reason?". "All women cry for no reason," was all his Dad could say......
The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry. Finally he put in a call to God and when God got back to him, he asked "God, why do women cry so easily?" GOD answered......
"When I made woman, I decided she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet, made her arms gentle enough to give comfort... I gave her the inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times will come even from her own children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going and take care of her family and friends, even when everyone else gives up, through sickness and fatigue without complaining....
I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances. Even when her child has hurt her badly.... She has the very special power to make a child's boo-boo feel better and to quell a teenager's anxieties and fears.... I gave her strength to care for her husband, despite faults and I fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.... I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.... For all of this hard work, I also gave her a tear to shed. It is hers to use whenever needed and ! it is her only weakness....
When you see her cry, tell her how much you love her, and all she does for everyone, and even though she may still cry, you will have made her heart feel good.
She is special!

You are all special women, whether you are a mother or not. Hope you have a happy day.

Oh, Rhondi. This is just an incredibly beautiful post. Every picture, the music and the story. I was already feeling sentimental, and this has me sitting here crying.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful Mother's Day and much happiness to you. Those who bring happiness to others shall receive in return.
Hi Rhonda, what a beautiful and touching story you wrote. It put tears in my eyes especially the part about having strength because she might have rejection from her own children. I have a daughter that did just that and only through the help of God have I been able to endure it. Thank you for sharing that story and may you have a wonderful Mothers Day.
ReplyDeleteLove, Ann
That was an enjoyable tribute to Mothers everywhere. Thank you Rhondi. =)
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi,

Hugs, Laura
Thank you for sharing such a special post. The collection of photos are just wonderful and the story, a good reminder.
ReplyDeleteThanks too for your greetings to all women. As someone who is not a mom, I find that very sweet of you.

Dear Wonderful Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you so much for your beautiful post! I just read it to my 20 yr. old son...he got up and came over and hugged me and said, "I love you mom, I don't have anything to give you, except my hugs!" Thats all I want I told him...
Bless you,
Donna Lynn
Wonderful Post Rhondi!! I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pictures you shared! I enjoyed them so much. Mary Cassatt, an impressionist painter, created many tender portraits of mothers and their children. I think some of them here are by her. On a day when I am missing my mother a lot, these pictures made me smile! Thanks.

This is fabulous Rhondi - first your collection of marvelous pictures depecting mothers and their children, and then the wonderful story (which I'm going to share with several mothers I know) which really touches the heart in a special way. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a minute to stop by - thanks for your sweet comments. Everywhere is so green and lush this morning after such heavy rain - luckily no wind came this way so damage is negligible around our area. Hope all is well there and that you have a fabulous week.
Awesome post! I really enjoyed the mothers across the world pictorial...thanks!
