I read something yesterday that said the average woman has 60 pairs of shoes. That seemed like a huge number to me. So I went to my closet to see how many I have and counted 20. That includes 3 pair of sandals and a pair of baby blue Anne Klein shoes I just got at a garage sale a few weeks ago for a total of $10 (2 were brand new). So before that I only had 16.
None of my shoes look like this. They don't look like this either, but I thought it was a fun colorful picture. These are someone's favorite shoes I found on flicker.
So I have 2 questions for you today Are you above average or below average? and if you'd like to tell us, How many pair of shoes do you have? I'd love to have your comment and your answer in the poll at the right.
Enjoy your day.
Rhondi xo
Ok, I guess it's confession time. I counted 41 pair but that includes my water shoes for exercising (which I haven't done in 3 years but might start any day now)and 3 pairs of houseshoes. Uh oh, do we have to count boots? Cause that would mean I have to add 4 to that total. But heres the deal, since I retired I've given away about 50 pairs! I told you it was confession time. When I worked (high school assistant principal) I was on my feet all the time and it was a constant search for a comfortable pair. Now i mostly wear Birkenstocks and don't care what they look like!
ReplyDeleteI am below average - for certain. I'll count them when I get home from work.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...counting 2 pairs of flip flops & a pair of "missing" black ballet-style slippers (I think they're to find my favorite frilly sock - also missing) I only count 21 pairs! I'd better get busy!
ReplyDeleteFun post Rhondi!

I have less than half what I once owned. Currently about a dozen, not including my swamp-stomps (rubber boots).
ReplyDeleteWhy do I allow the rather shocking fushia, low-heeled pumps space in my closet? Well, they match the fushia, tea-length taffeta dress that I wore to a local ball, which I will never wear again (even if it did still fit!)
My daughter just reminded me that if I keep the dress long enough, it is likely to come back into style again. Do I really want to save it for 30 years? And how likely that I will want to wear it when I'm in my 70's???
Hmmm....methinks it is time to purge both closet and shoe shelf!
Nope, definitely below average. My Domestic Engineer position makes few fashion demands but does require high functionality.
Lovely photos on your blog especially that gorgeous rose!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea of how many pairs of shoes I have but nowhere near 60!
Never that many! Maybe 12 pairs, that's all.
ReplyDeleteRhondi what a gorgeous blog you have. I adore your blog banner. Thanks for pointing out that I forgot the comment section of my giveaway! I'm new to Typepad and forget you have to click that. I've fixed it now if you still want to enter my drawing. I'd also like to link you blog on mine if you don't mind. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi I have less than 20 pairs and I wear the same two or three pair all the time,I also have one pair of steel toe shoes I keep at work.
ReplyDeleteBrenda:)
I wish I had 60 pair!! I have Fred Flintstone feet and try on 100s of pairs to buy just one that fits comfortably. So, I have maybe a dozen pair of comfy shoes including crocs, slippers, birkenstocks, tennies, and Uggs. All shaped as blocky as my feet!
ReplyDeleteOnly 50? Opps, I must have a real shoe thing.
ReplyDeleteI am WAY under..guess I better go
ReplyDeletebuy some sandals!!
Much needed..

Well someone has about 50 of my 60 pair! I have HUGE feet and shoe shopping is a trial. Cant someone make comfy, pretty shoes for size 11's? Hello?
ReplyDeleteRhondi
ReplyDeleteI have about 30--still half, tho! Geesh, you'd need alot of rm for 60!
WHOA...I am waaay under ! Let me go count...won't take long...ok...I';m back..25 pr shoes and 2 pr boots. Mostly tennis shoes and sandals, not many dress shoes and a few pr of flip-flops.
ReplyDeleteGOOD GRIEF ....60 pr of shoes is a LOT....

I have 58 pairs but half of them never get worn. Many are very, old and don't fit so well...guess I've been thinking my feet would shrink a half size. I think I'll weed out all those that never get worn...thanks for the inspiration to do what I should have done a long time ago!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to stop by and say thanks for welcoming me to the blogosphere.
I also wanted to answer your question regarding the free subscription to Country Home Magazine:
"Is that subscription to Country Home free or is there a catch? Have you tried it?"
I actaully did not sign up for this because I already receive a free subscription to Country Home from another site-Rewards gold.
The best way I can answer your question is to say my husband and I receive about 20 different mags from all different sources and have been doing so for about 1 1/2 and I have yet to have a problem with it. I have never received a bill to date. You will sometimes get a renewal notice in hopes that you will renew, but you will not be obligated to do so. As with any free offer, disclose as little info as possible, never give your credit card # or Banking #. A good tip is to look at the site thoroughly for fine print, etc. I also sometimes print the page where it states the item is free for my records in case a situation where to arise. Hope this helps.
By the way , it looks like you love shoes. I just posted a link to a 15% off printable coupon for payless. Be sure to check it out if you plan on adding to your shoe collection.
Thanks

I've never been a big shoe girl myself. I do love sandles though. But still, I'm way below average if the number is 60 pairs.

I am extremeley below average Rhondi. I have a new pair of orthopedic ankle boots made up every 18 months due to my chronic health problems. At first, I was horrified that I had to wear them but soon realized it has an advantage of not standing in front of my closet wondering what shoes to wear today. :) I am not fashionable at all in them and they are sweltering in the summer heat but it means I can walk without the help of canes or crutches.

Hi Rhondi!
ReplyDeleteI met a gal in Fla that had approx 200 prs of shoes! She is known as the Shoe Queen to her friends. Her husband custom built shoe racks in her built-in closet for her shoes! I've never seen such gorgeous shoes!! They were like her children! And my husband thought I had a lot, I always remind him of the shoe queen when he mutters about my newest shoe purchase!!
Hugs, Sherry
Love Love Love shoes! I don't want to confess to how many shoes I have, I started counting and then remembered I had more outside on the shoes racks too...
ReplyDeleteDarling post, I always love visiting you!
Hugs, Donna Lynn
I'm almost ashamed to say I only have 3 pairs, counting my crocs. A sunday go to meeting pair, a daily pair and my croc sandles. *blush* I have really wide feet and so I can't wear pretty shoes. It's depressing to think about!
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi, I dare not count! far too many.
ReplyDeleteI have recently boxed and labelled mine...I am good, arn't I!!!They were all kept under my bed and now fill my Son's old wardrobe, very neatly though!
Love the pictures.
I have lept several of my babies pram shoes...

Cute post! I think I probably am one of the "average" people who has 50 or 60 pairs! I need to clear out a few!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
I have 18 pair and that includes a pair of golf shoes and a pair of tennis shoes...
ReplyDeletePenny
Shoes are so much fun! I didn't go and count my shoes, but I know that I have plenty, but well under 60 pairs. Most of mine are sandals or something impractical that I don't end up wearing because I have wide feet. I do have two pairs of good solid shoes for winter though. I just love summer when I can go lighter.
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteI ran into my closet just now to count and I have 18. But that includes wellies, snow boots, flip-flops and slippers. So I guess I really only have 14 pairs of real shoes. And thanks for bringing this to my attention because some of them need to be thrown away! I'm not much into fashion. I select shoes for comfort.
Hugs, Laura
Wow.. Amazing stuff. I always wondering for new and unique stuff shoes, those high heel shoes are perfect. price? and how do i get them?
ReplyDeleteHello! At some point I had over 70 pairs of shoes! Now not even 10 pairs... simplifying... Love these ones on the pic! xo Vanessa
ReplyDeleteUgh, shoes! My mom LOVES them and I'd much rather go barefoot. Which at my age is frowned upon, I guess. Needless to say, I don't have a whole lot of pairs, and what I do have are ancient - they last a long time when you never wear them!
