Quilt

I finished a quilt yesterday. It's a lapsize, just perfect for cosying up with a good book. We'll maybe not right now with this 90 + weather we're having!
The part of quiltmaking I enjoy the most is choosing the colors and designing the pattern. This is just a simple pinwheel. When a quilt is all pieced, and I've finished quilting it and putting the binding on, I feel a great sense of accomplishment. My creation is complete.

Here is a view of the whole quilt. It is just a very simple quilt.

Love is a quilt - a quilt is love . . .Both love and a quilt should be:soft enough to comfort you, bright enough to cheer you, generous enough to enfold you, light enough to let you move freely, strong enough to withstand adversity, durable enough to last a lifetime, and given gladly, from the heart.

I've made quite a few quilts for others lately so this quilt I'm keeping for myself.

  8. Simple patterns are sometimes the best. Your colors are perfect as usual, and the quilting looks great. I need to slow down my life somehow so I can quilt more. I want to be in too many places at once. You inspire me to pick mine up, maybe tonight!
    I'm glad you're keeping this.

  21. I am not a quilter, but I love them! I am very fond of the colors you selected for that lap quilt--that sweet tea pot makes the perfect picture--all cozy under that quilt, with a good book and a pot of tea. Just not in this dreadful HEAT! :-)

I am so amazed by the beautiful quilts you make. I have zero skills with needles, but I have a great appreciation for those like you that are so skilled. You create truly beautiful art that can be appreciated by others.

  26. Ahhhhh - my favorite blue and white. You'll feel so snuggly when you use that beautiful quilt in the cold months. I've been busy with guests for the past while and haven't been able to pop by. It as lovely to read back on your recent post and to catch up. Your red dining room looks to be similar to my pomegranate red kitchen.

  27. Rhondi - I am so impressed with the beautiful quilt you made. The colors are gorgeous and the size is perfect! I've never attempted a quilt. It seems like such a huge undertaking. I bet it's very relaxing to do. Beautiful, beautiful job!!

I will be participating in Thankful Thursday tomorrow. I thought I was too late last Thursday, so sorry for messing that up.

  31. There is nothing simple about a quilt as it is stitched with love. This pinwheel quilt is just a beauty and I can picture you already curled up reading with it warming you in the winter months. Do you always machine quilt your quilts? Love the spirals. Great job!

  32. Oh, Rhondi...you are so good at what you do, girl. This one is just lovely. I like the pinwheel design and blue and yellow is a favorite color combo. Do you quilt them by hand or use a machine? The few (and VERY simple, I might add) quilts I've made, I quilted on my mother's old Singer...boy, what a job. Made me hurt all over. Too much quilt for that small machine, I think. I have NO idea how to do it by hand, tho.....

  37. Quilts remind me of my grandmother. Al her quilts were made from the remains of dressmaking. When we spent the night, we slept under a ton of quilts. The heat came from the fireplace and the bedrooms were not heated. Thanks for the memories.
