Thankful Thursday

No pictures today, just words. For several years now I have taken medication for depression and it has made my quality of life so much better, but I still get discouraged from time to time and need an extra dose of encouragement.
Today I am thankful for many sources of encouragement: my friends, God's word, reading your blogs, your sweet comments, nature, books, inspirational music, messages on Sunday at church, phone calls from my children and grandchildren. Listing what I am thankful for encourages me and helps me remember how blessed I am.
I hope someone or something encourages you today!

  2. Good Morning Rhondi. I appreciate you sharing this with us. Depression is not a problem for me but worrying and feeling overwhelmed is. I was just "talking" to myself yesterday about thinking positive thoughts. Thanks for your reminder.

  4. Personal challenges are not always easy to share. It's a blessing that you feel free to allow your blogging friends into this part of your world. Thankful for you that you are able to see the wonderful blessings in your life. Pray for all your readers today that we will count our blessings with thankfulness today as well.

We all need encouragement each day as we walk through this life. Encouragement is balm to the spirit and is definitely an element of health and well being.

  5. Rhondi,
Several years ago, the Lord opened my eyes to a precious scripture that reminds me that I am special to him. Isaiah 43:1-4. He knows my name! Isn't that awesome.

  6. Good morning Rhondi, I just loved, loved your blog. My best friend has just suffered a chemical imbalance triggered by an illness. She is having great difficulty surrendering to the medication. She feels that if her faith is strong enough God will heal her. As we all know God gives us Docs and the gift of Meds. May God bless you today and lift your spirits. Your blog sisters will be sending up prayers for you.

  9. Dear Rhondi, Depression is such a rough condition to live with....the role that medication plays in the successful treatment of this condition is tremendous, but you hit the nail on the head....support from friends and family is still so important. Thank you for sharing this with us, Rhondi. Sometimes we think we're alone in dealing with issues, then we find out we're not and the challenge then seems a little less difficult. We have a family member who is dealing with depression...she has certainly taught me the value of medication in treating it and the importance of support from her family. As far as feeling "blessed"...I certainly feel blessed to have found you in this blogland....you're such an inspiration in so many ways. L, Dana

  13. Such good words to remind each of us what is precious in our daily lives. I think keeping these journals (blogs) really helps to focus on all the beautiful, positive things even though we are often overwhelmed with negative evening news.
    Take care.

  24. This is such a sweet and honest post. My doctor tells me that I suffer from depression from time to time. I most of the time deny it but he says that is normal of a depressed person. My new medicine seems to help. I hope that you are feeling better now. You are such an inspiration to so many of us.

    Hugs,

  28. I know exactly how you feel when it comes to depression. I do not that meds for mine yet. I keep a journal and each morning I write in it what I am thankful for. It has helped me out many times. When I start feeling blue in the day I will go back and read what I wrote for the day.
