Hurrican Ike has passed and my son and his family in Houston are safe and sound. There were a lot of trees down in their neighborfood and some damage to homes, but they received no damage at all. The main concern now is that they are among the over 3 million people who have no power. Thank you all so much for your kind comments and your prayers.

Hi Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteOur power was off all day yesterday for some reason, I feel blessed that it came back on at 5PM. I have lived in Fl and I know how long it can take to restore power and gas and food in a hurricane devastated area.
My son lives in College Station about 120 miles Houston..so far they are fine too and still have power.
Hugs,
Penny
So happy to hear of the ones who are safe and doing OK...
ReplyDelete~Blessings,
Jan

Glad your bunch made it through, and I hope their power is restored quickly. I know the power company sent people from all over in that direction even before Ike made landfall. I spoke with a lady in the store the other day who said her hubby works for the power company, and she probably won't see him for at least 3 weeks, before he gets a break to come back home.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your family is safe!

ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi! I am so glad everyone weathered the storm with no major damage! I know being without power is NO FUN! I'll be praying for your son's & his neighbors.
ReplyDeleteChris
So glad to hear you family weathered the storm. My son lives in Conroe, around 80 miles north of Houston. They also are without power, and have a lot of downed trees in their neighborhood, but God is good and kept them safe.

ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear your family are ok. My Grandson, Jason, went to Houston for his Dad's funeral and is suppose to return to NC today. I bet he is not going to get out easily. Those poor people have a lot of cleaning up ahead of them. Rest easier now.
Nancy
Sad pictures on the news.. Happy that you Family is okay!!! I want to go down there and help out in some way....
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that everything is okay with your family...
ReplyDeleteCan I join in with Thankful Thursday?
Can I use your logo when I do it?
I'm so happy that you son and his family had no problems. It does stink to be without power, but hopefully it will come on soon. I remember when we had no power after Hurricanes Frances and Jean. The one good thing about that was that it really brought you closer to your neighbors. I do hope their power comes on soon though, because cold showers and candlelight gets old.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that your family is safe. It is hard for us to comprehend these storms, one after the other. You must be relieved to know that it is over. Now they just have to get through the aftermath.
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi,

ReplyDeleteI've just watched the late news from Galveston - too, too sad for all those who have lost their homes.
Happy to hear that your family is safe and sound Rhondi. I am back home again and trying to spend time today catching up with all my blogging friends. I hope all is well there with you?

Glad you family are ok.
ReplyDeleteCute picture!
Rhondi, of course I don't mind you copying the white pumpkins! That wasn't my original idea either...I stole it from Better Homes & Gardens. We all just pass these things around. Let me know if you do a version too!
