Another project finished. I just finished making this quilt . My plan was to use it on our bed at Christmas and I still may, but in the meantime I’ve put it on the bed in the guest room. I already had a blue and white stripe Ralph Lauren bed skirt I’d picked a up at a yard sale a couple of years ago
The only other thing needed was a few pillows, so I went to my stash and found this great cherry fabric, dotted fabric and this other one that looks like hand stitching. A few more pillows are still needed so I plan to sew a couple more. You can’t have too many pillows on a bed!
The bedroom walls are a boring beige which was on the walls when we moved in 5 years ago. Now that I’ve got the bed looking good it’s time to paint the walls. I’m thinking yellow. Any suggestions? Is wallpaper back in style yet? I love patterned wallpaper. I remember there used to be great discount wallpaper stores back in the day.
Have a happy Labor Day weekend!
Rhondi xo
Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteAnother quilt? How many have you made now? I'm in awe of your talent. I have a sister-in-law who is a master quilter. She has made so many beautiful quilts now that I've lost count. This red and white quilt is just great! When I look at the old quilts I've bought over the years, the theme that is obvious is that I'm drawn to two color quilts with white being the constant. Blue and white, red and white, yellow and white, .....can't miss with any of these combinations. Thanks for sharing this work of art. What's the next project?
I like the idea of yellow for the walls....so cheerful! We have a guest room with yellow walls.
Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend. Will you be quilting? ~ Sarah
This is so pretty. I've wanted to make a quilt like this in blue and white for a long time. One day.
ReplyDeleteI've seen some beautiful rooms with yellow walls and red, white and some black accents - gorgeous!
Another beautiful quilt, Rhondi. I so admire your talents. I think yellow walls would be very pretty. I also think that quilt would be absolutely gorgeous at Christmastime.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
I have pillow stashes. Never too many pillows. My hubbie hates them. Oh well-it doesn't stop me. Love the quilt. Yellow would be too much for me. But if you like it do it. I would go for wallpaper. I just don't want to put it up.
ReplyDeleteFun Friday to you!
Ohhhhh, that is just so beautiful! I love quilts. There is a quilting class at our church that I am tempted to go to. How long does it take to create such beauty?
ReplyDeleteWell, you know I just LOVE that red and white quilt to pieces!! I think yellow walls would look wonderful in that room!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
That is a beautiful quilt. I rome rhe white and red combination. Yello and white and red? I think it will not do good to the white .Have a nice day
ReplyDeleteOh wow the quilt is beautiful. And I LOVE wallpaper. Especially the romantic florals...... sigh. I was so disappointed when my daughter stripped the lovely petite blue floral from her room. But it IS her room. Enjoy the decorating.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty bed. Your quilt is beautiful! :o) And how adorable are your cherry pillow cases!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
I love the colour yellow but I wouldn't want all four walls that colour. If you did you could put an old sack on the bed because people would be so busy looking at the walls they wouldn't notice your lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteWallpaper seems to be sightly on its way back in over here so it looks as if I'm old fashioned again!
What a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteYes, wallpaper is making a big comeback, according to the glossy magazines. I think yellow walls would be very nice - restfull too.
Hi, Rhondi -
ReplyDeleteYour new quilt is gorgeous! I love the simple patterns and two-color quilts always catch my eye. Yellow walls would be great but I'm anxious to see what you finally decide. I'm sure it will be perfect!
~Adrienne~
I LOVE the quilt, Rhondi!! It is so my style. I like how it looks with the bedskirt and the pretty pillows.
ReplyDeleteI think yellow is a wonderful color for the walls but I would keep it very pale so the colors don't clash. I love wallpaper as well and still have quite a bit in both houses. I would use it again in a minute but only sparingly, such as under a chair rail. It does limit you when it comes to putting things on the walls.
Can't wait to see what you do!!
xoxo

OH, Rhondi- Its beautiful! You did a fabulous job, and I love the scalloped border.
ReplyDeleteI love combinations of red and blue Rhoni, great bedroom look. Regarding the wallpaper. It's certainly coming back in over here in Britain but mainly used for one feature wall (behind the bed) the rest is painted. I've seen some great papers at the Laura Ashley shops (illustrated on their web site). I used to love choosing wallpapers but in recent years the choice has been dreadful. Long live wallpaper!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is absolutely beautiful! And looks great with the bedskirt. Yes I've read that wallpaper is making a comeback! Wonder if the stores will start up again. What about blue on your walls? Or a darker beige.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reposting Olde Tyme Marketplace, I want to go there sometime.
The desk on my blog today is from a friend's house in Fl, filled with antiques. Wish it was my front hall! Have a good weekend yourself, and enjoy the cooler weather.
You did a beautiful job on the quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the quilts
ReplyDeleteYou sure are talented sweetie!! Love the quilt and all of the red white and blue that you have in your guest room!!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic weekend!!
Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteLove the new quilt. I am so impressed at the rate you can turn them out! I have lots of tops, but just can't get around to finishing them..In my day we didn't know about ADHD, but I suppose I have a touch of it now in my later years, LOL. By the time I get one top finished I am always ready to jump into a new project.
On your side bar I notice a quilt that looks like an Album quilt using yellow for the background. Is that one of your own creations? I love the yellow, I'm making a note to myself to do an applique on yellow background. Most of mine are on black or white. Great idea.
I agree the guest room crys out to be yellow.

Hi Rhondi...the irish chain is my favorite, and I've made several, but have yet to keep one! I do have that one top that I can quilt, but don't have a room for it right now, so I'm not motivated to quilt it. I am going to get one done for my bedroom before the year is over, though. You've inspired me again! Grea work, I so enjoy your blog!
ReplyDeleteMary
Happy Friday Rhondi. I just wanted to drop in and see what you were up to.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. You'll have fun setting it off with some awesome pillows. What fun.
Have a wonderful L-O-N-G relaxing weekend. God bless you many time over.
Dear Ritad
ReplyDeleteYes the Baltimore album is my own design. I call it "Baltimore Album Goes To Carnival"
I try really hard to finish all my quilts, but right now I have 4 on the go and 1 in my head and 1 skteched out on paper. I think all of us quilters are the same: too many projects on the go :)
Happy quilting!
I love your new quilt! I've always loved two color quilts. The pillows are so cute. If you love floral wallpaper then by all means do it!
ReplyDeleteRhondi, Your new quilt is beautiful and I love the color with that bedskirt. Love the pillows too. It's always fun to have extra fabric to pull out and use.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Gretchen
Oh Rhondi, I just adore this quilt! I can't figure out how it's done from the photos. Are the only small squares the red ones? Can you point me to a link or something for this?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous quilt. Love it! It looks so great with your new pillows and the bedskirt. I love wallpaper too. We must be close to the same age. Mimi
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Rhondi. I love the simplicity of it. You are so lucky to be able to have the time to do these things. I adore that pillow, love, Love, LOVE the fabric that looks homestiched! Wherever did you get it? I am a real nut for redwork!!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be so pretty for Christmas. I do remember the wall paper stores. I still have wall paper in my master bath, waiting for it to come back in style...
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely. I have tried so many times to finish my quilting projects and never do. After seeing this I just have to. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteWillow
I love the simplicity of this quilt. It is beautiful with your new pillows. Sally
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is really nice - I love the red and white. Your pillows look great with the quilt. Your choice of yellow would be lovely for the walls.
ReplyDeleteRhondi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reply...Love your blog and all your quilts. Keep up the good work.

It looks antique Rhondi, gorgeous. I love 2 colour quilts and I love red and white. The pillows look great with it. I've enjoyed catching up on your last few posts. They're always so cheery and colourful.
ReplyDeleteI love your new quilt. The bed skirt goes so well with it, and the pillows too. As for the walls, I don't know, I am partial to blue or red but maybe it would be too much.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Nancy
Wall stencil (in an old Victorian pattern) would be lovely. White with yellow being the pattern. Then perhaps a sheer white wash to tone it down a bit. It's so easy, if you change your mind - no wallpaper mess to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the new quilt! And those cute pillows! I'm going to start a quilt this fall so I'll probably ask you for help!! I've always wanted to try making one and this year I'm not going to have a fall veggie gardens so I'll finally have time!
ReplyDeleteYellow and red is a favorite color combination of mine. I think a pale soothing yellow would be pretty, but red and blue is pretty too! Choosing color is always so hard!
Rhondi, it looks beautiful. And, I agree that you can never have too many pillows.
ReplyDeleteYellow walls would look fantastic. Yellow is my favorite color.
I'm a wallpaper lover, too.
This will look a dream on your bed at Christmas! What a pretty quilt. Congratulations on your finish.
ReplyDeleteHugs ~
Heidi
Rhondi, that is one beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Love those colors...what a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteRhondi, your quilt is beautiful. It looks like an heirloom!
