Almost every day since last November I have written down things I am thankful for in a little journal and I have just made it to 1,000! Doing this has made me notice how much I take for granted the many blessings in my life and really how ungrateful I am much of the time. I has been a good lesson. When I looked back over the list I noticed that I had written down the same things quite a few times, things like good health and family, provision and friends.
As I was looking back at prvious posts I realized that this is my 86th post for Thankful Thursday!
Today I am thankful for:
beauty of a heron flying by
the cherry tree on our front lawn just starting to bloom today
wonderfully encouraging comments from bloggers this week
no matter how bad things are there is always something to be thankful for
my husband's help with the yard work on the weekend
a fun day at home just puttering around the house
birds chirping outside reminding me to be happy
pair of wrens making a nest near out back door
# 993-1,000
So I have reached my goal of one thousand but I am going to continue writing in my gratitude journal every day because it has been such a good experience for me.
What are you thankful for today?
Rhondi xo

Being thankful each day is a wonderful way to bless our lives. Even in the worst of times there are things to be thankful for. Thank you for your wonderful example Rhondi! xxoo
ReplyDeleteI think a journal of thanks would be a good thing to start. Thanks for the inspiration. It is so easy to feel/see the things we are NOT thankful for, that we don't realize all we do have to be thankful for.

I try to be thankful for something each day as well. It is just so easy to get caught up in things that really just don't matter. Thinking about being thankful can certainly put life in perspective.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
Carol
Hi Rhondi,

Robin
Rhondi, life is good, isn't it? I'm thankful for the lovely days we are having. And, I'm also thankful for having you as a special friend.
ReplyDeleteRhondi....I like your idea of writing what I am graterul in a journal everyday. Makes it more real and not a just a fleeting thought. It would be a good reminder when I am having a less than positive day! I am grateful today for your idea!~Patti
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you to have reached your goal and to be publishing your 86th Thankful Thursday post. I'm also glad you're going to continue with your journal. It has been such a blessing and encouragement to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I told you about one of my fav books; it is called "14,000 things to be happy about"--it is by Barbara Ann Kipfer. You should get it from Amazon or something--you would really enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reminding all of us to take time, reflect on what we are thankful for and tell the people who mean the most.
ReplyDelete1,000 things for which to be thankful and still counting. God is good! xo,
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for Spring! The warm sunshine, the melting snow, the sound of the birds all make my heart happy:>)
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi

Rhondi, How often we forget to be thankful for the things we have or for just God's creations all around us.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me.
Barbara
I try to sit with my coffee each morning and think about what I'm thankful for. Today I'm thankful that spring is just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Donna
I am thankful that I can count on you to have your thankful post every week. It's so OK to be thankful for the same things the point is that we take notice and are thankful.
ReplyDeleteGod bless and have a marvelous weekend sweet Rhondi!
I am thankful for blogging friends like you, Rhondi, certainly! And for another blogging friend who led me to my cousin, who I met yesterday for the first time in three decades.

You are such a sweet inspiration! Many blessings to you!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all your blues and yellows. And the daffodil painting by your mom is beautiful. Such bright and happy flowers! I see that you did McLinky again for Thankful Thursday. We are truly blessed when we give thanks each and every day for even the smallest things. I love your Tuesday tea posts too. The banana bread looked scruptious and your table setting so sweet. Hope you are having a beautiful weekend. Many blessings, Tammy
