Today I am thankful for the wonderful people who have come into my life over the last few years: my dear quilting friends who I spent the weekend with, wonderful friends from church, and all you sweet generous bloggers who encourage me, challenge me, entertain me and just generally all round bless me!
I am thankful for the surprise I received from dear Mary Jane of The Beehive Cottage.
Yesterday I went to the mailbox expecting the usual bills and junk mail.
But wait, it looks like I have an interesting package.
and it's for me!
It's wrapped in lovely paper with a beautiful handmade tag.
The tag has a pretty blue (wonder how she knew I liked blue?) yo yo on it.
Inside I found 2 handmade crocheted dishcloths. This may sound silly, but I've wanted some just like these for a long time. Someone makes them for my daughter in law and I always like using them when I visit her.
Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness Mary Jane.
I am also thankful that the flood waters in the woods out back subsided very quickly, and they didn't quite reach our property line.
What are you thankful for today?
Rhondi xo
So glad your lovely home was not flooded Rhondi - came pretty close by the look of it though! We had heavy rain part of yesterday and the gardens looked relieved as they've strugged so this Summer - the humidity is awful though.
ReplyDeleteTake care dear.
Oh, what a lovely post, I like how you led us from your mailbox to opening up your beautiful gifts. Happy Thankful Thursday. Karen
ReplyDeleteI too love blue. I have decorated with it all of my adult life. It seems to come in and out of vogue, but not with me. If I like something, it doesn't matter to me whether the marketing gurus and designers and decorators are featuring it. It is a tried and true staple of my home decorating!

ReplyDeleteYour mailbox is beautifullllllllll.
ReplyDeleteWow, I am so jealous. Great that you went out and found a gift. The tag is so cute. I knit those dishcloths, never tried a chrocheted on. Hummmmmmm.
Have a great day and thankful Thursday.

First of all- what a mailbox! That is beautiful! It's always nice to have surprises waiting for you. Love the dishcloths. They are great. I have not used those in forever. I need to get some.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are starting to look familiar up here in VA. We have a flash flood warnings out. It was a mess this morning...and still raining.
Hugs,
Kim

You have a very interesting mailbox, it is lovely, what a treat for the postman on a dull morning! I love your parcel, I love the heart stamps, how appropriate. I am grateful today for reaching the 10 year mark in our present home, and another happy 10 years with my better half. x
ReplyDeleteRhondi! What a lovely package! I can just imagine how pleased you are because I know I would be too! I would like to join you on Thankful Thursday if that is okay? I may not get to it today, but I will try to start next Thursday. Thanks!
ReplyDeleterhondi, lucky you! lol ... I love anything handmade. My mother-in-law gave me a couple a few years back, I still use them today.

Hi Rhondi! What a cute idea for a gift tag! I love it. And how sweet a package. These things always brighten any day. Now I have read my mother's comment and think my mother now needs to try crocheted dishclothes.....for me. LOL! But seriously, I had always gotten the knitted dishclothes from my aunt but now that she passed on, I miss them. Enjoy yours which are the perfect color for you!

Lovely dishcloths, Rhondi! And I hope your feet didn't get wet in the house!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend & hugs, Carolien
What a wonderful thankful list, a beautiful surprise and lovely package. I am so glad that the flood waters have receded. Prayers have been answered!
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi - a bit late for Thankful Thursday, it being Saturday now. I'm thankful to live in an area of England where we don't get the worst of weather. We don't get the best either, but never mind. Last year there was extensive flooding in this country. Though we got the rain at least it drained away. Could have had something to do with living at the top of a hill! I'm pleased the waters receded before they got to you.
ReplyDeleteThere was a sad omission in my education: nobody taught me how to crochet. I never would have thought of crocheting dishcloths. Yours are lovely.
Just as you feel about blue, I feel about yellow. Some of the curtains in our house are quite expensive ones but the ones I like best of all are the inexpensive cotton yellow checkered ones in the kitchen. Cheap and cheerful!
love, Angie, xx
I love your blog. I've had you bookmarked for awhile now and I love to visit. You always inspire me. I lived in NC but recently moved to FL. I love, love, love your quilts. I've been knitting obsessed lately but I'm getting the itch to quilt again and your red quilt and the tea quilt are really lovely. Is there patterns for those? I would love to duplicate. Thank you for your beautiful blog.
ReplyDeleteThat was so nice of Michelle to do for you. I have some of those that friends have made for me, and I agree that they are the best. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty mailbox! Have a wonderful Labor Day! Thank you for all your prayers and blessings,
ReplyDeletekari & kijsa

ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi-This is my first visit to your blog. It is lovely. I am a big fan of blue also, especially blue and white. I also quilt a little..still consider myself a beginner. I plan to bookmark your blog and will be visiting again soon. Linda
ReplyDeleteAnonymous. I hope you read this. Sorry I have been so slow in responding to yur question about the quilts, but I've had no internet. The tea quilt was my onw design. The red one came from a book by Peggy Martin, Quick Strip Paer Stripping.

Hi Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for my sister. Your house looks wonderful, and I can just imagine the two of us sitting there having a cup of tea and giggling! Got a kick out of how many of your blogging friends commented on the mailbox, maybe we could sell them!!! Too bad I am retiring! I love my sister,
Nick

What a special treat. I picked up one very much like that on the free table at the church thrift store the other day. It works great as a pot holder.
ReplyDeleteI ran across your post while searching for crocheted dishcloths. What a lovely mailbox - did you decorate it? And I too love my dishcloths. We're having a lot of rain today, because of Hanna.
