An Ugly Duckling

Every once in awhile I find something good at Goodwill. This was my latest find, only $10 but it was seniors day so I got it for $7.50. It's a good size, 32" x 45" and nice and sturdy. I can picture it as a coffee table piled with books, or holding a big tray filled with goodies for tea, or wine and cheese, or as a footstool or even extra seating in our living room. I have some left over fabric to use and I'm thinking of painting the legs in Mackenzie Childs style. Stay tuned.... Have you got an ugly duckling at your house just waiting to be transformed into a swan?

  8. Hi Rhondi -
Yes, I love to find the 'ugly ducklings' when I'm out and about. But I do get tired of some family members asking 'what are you going to do with THAT?' or 'are you sure?' Can't wait to see what you come up with.

  10. Hi Rhondi - first of all I am SO sorry your name didn't get deleted from my fwd list. I thought I had dne it and I didn't. Sorry.

I wish we had goodwill stores over here. What is it, something like a charity shop, where proceeds go to a worthy cause? I'm not very handy at transforming things. I always know how I want them to look butsomehow they just..... don't! My sis is good at those things though so I leave it to her.

    love, Angie, xx

  12. Lucky you! I love those treasures I've found at Goodwill but I can't top your bench. Be sure to post your completed project.
Yes, I do have some ugly ducklings at my house. I really need to learn to sew slipcovers to make them into swans.

  13. Hi Rhondi. I had fun catching up on missed posts. I love your new tea cups, your pansy bouquets, and spring garden. I'll look forward to this transformation. We visit NC next week to see our son. I'm hoping the blooms might still be on the dogwoods!

  20. I can see this redone and it will be wonderful! I always seem to see things as they could be rather than as they are:>) I just got some really ugly chairs to replace my dining room chairs for $2 each at a church sale. I'm in the process of painting and recovering them then I'll show everyone.

  21. I don't think it is an ugly duckling at all but I bet it will be great when you finish with it. What a deal you got on it too.
