Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful to have my car back looking as good as new. A tree fell on it and caused so much damage that the insurance company said it had to go to the salvage yard. We were able to buy it back from salvage and with the rest of the insurance money we were able to get it repaired.
Click here to read the post about the tree that fell on it. This car is very special to me. It belonged to my mom and she bought it when she was 70 years old. Whenever I drive it I am reminded of her zest for life and her youthful attitude until the day she died. It looks like a new car even though it is 16 years old. I hope I get to drive it for at least another 16 years.

Today I am thankful for my little car.

What are you thankful for today?

  2. I'm so glad that all worked out! I'm pretty sure that we wouldn't have known to handle that situation the way you did...smart! What a great connection to your mom. :)

  3. I would have never thought of buying it back and getting it fixed! Great idea and I am so glad you could salvage it. Your mom must have been quite a cutie zipping around in her little sports car:>)

  4. Isn't that amazing that your mom bought a stylish car like this at 70! I am sure it makes you grateful for her and feel close to her. My dad loved his car. It was an old man car but still he loved it. He gave it to me when he was dying. My one sister (that is rich) was mad. But that is another story. He didn't want to have it disputed over after he was dead so he flat out gave it to me a couple months before he went. My husband uses it mostly but we have taken very very good care of it. We consider it a privilege to drive it and we baby and repair it. The paint is starting to peel on the clear coat here and there and it makes me sad to know that I won't have it forever. But it was a gift of love because at the time we really needed that car. Well do. But at the time it was a desperate need. It is like physical evidence of his love that is eternal and forever. Someday I will thank him again for it. I like to think he is smiling when I'm in the car.
