Thankful Thursday

Good morning.

My husband just came into the room where I am writing this and said, "Thankful Thursday"!  For any first time readers, every Thursday I make a list of things I am thankful for.  I have been doing this for quite a while but now I am keeping count because of an idea that I got from Ann at Holy Experience.

So here is my list for today:

a creative mom
a compassionate sister
a dad with integrity
a hardworking husband
sun rises  a little earlier in the mornings
warm pajamas
cozy bed
hot cup of tea
my own studio
kids and grandkids healthy
husband's cheerfulness every morning
feeling hopeful today
how God's word can change my outlook
time sewing yesterday
more time to sew today
forsythia buds turning green.

Did you know that being thankful is actually good for you?

A study reported in Psychology Today reported that  "In general, participants who were asked to think about what they were grateful for, compared to control condition participants, experienced greater levels of optimism, positive mood, and feelings of belongingness over the period of the study. That is, experiencing gratitude promoted psychological well-being. Further, in one study, these participants reported fewer physical illness symptoms and indicated spending more time exercising. This suggests that gratitude may also promote healthy living. Also, these participants were more likely to report helping someone with a personal problem or offering emotional support to others. In other words, gratitude may also motivate pro-social or moral behavior."

That is quite amazing, isn't it?

  1. Rhondi....Your husband knows you so well!
Thank you so much for reminding me to think about what I am thankful for each Thursday!~Patti

  2. Hi Rhondi, I'm so thankful for so much but having good health is most important!

Go visit Donna - I know what she's thankful for today!!

    Stay warm - hugs, Mary.

  3. I am thankful for so much, but my faith, my family and good health are at the top of my list.

And, I am thankful you always share a smile with us.

  4. I am thankful for you Rhondi, amongst many other things. I just try to live a thankful life each and every moment and day of my life. Gratitude is just an integral part of who I am. A life filled with gratitude is a life well spent. Happy Thursday Rhondi!! xxoo

  5. Good morning Rhondi! Today I'm thankful for the heated floor in my kitchen, which makes sitting at the island to write this a cosy pleasure.

  6. I came over for Thankful Thursday!

I was telling Tony over my coffee this morning that it's "Thankful Thursday!"

    "It is? I like that."
"Well, you go over to Rose Colored Glasses- she does Thankful Thursday."

    I am thankful for:

    (1) Your great post. Like the quote from PT.
    (2) That your life is SO blessed, Rhondi.
    (3) For a business that is producing better than it's parent company.
    (4) For restoration of two family members.
    (5) For the indisputable Word of God.

"When thou goest is shall lead thee,
when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee,
when thou awakest, it shall talk to thee."
    How great is that?

BTW, you asked me about a business and I've written the last post with you in mind.

I'm going to have about 3 installments as you are not the only person to ask me how to go about starting one.

  7. Rhondi, I've so much to be thankful for, and I try to live each day with that thought foremost in my mind. I enjoyed reading your list. Integrity and compassion are two things that are very important in one's life. ~ Sarah

  8. I will have to remember to do this in the future!! I am thankful today for warm sweaters, a light comical romantic Christmas book, a nice visit with my MIL at the nursing home, and a veggie lasagna cooking in the oven. Blessings on your day!

  18. Dear Rhondi,

I just discovered your blog recently and wanted to let you know that it has really blessed me. I think I will try to participate in Thankful Thursdays in the future as I need this kind of (daily) focus to develop the health and beauty of my heart.

"You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
    your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
    none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them,
yet they are more than can be told."
    Psalm 40:5

Thank you for this kind of posting.

Thanks so very much for taking the time to leave a comment. I always read every one. I am glad you stopped by for a visit. Hope you'll come again!
