China Replacements

Do you like china?  I know many of you do and you would love this place! It's Replacements Ltd near Greensboro NC.  At Replacements they carry pieces of china patterns that have been discontinued.

There are cases and cases of plates showing the most popular patterns they carry extending down a very long hallway.

More cases

In the main showroom there are more cases filled with more beautful china, showing lots of serving dishes and  other accessories for the patterns.

Several cases full of chintz which I would love to own.

The china cabinets that house the china are all different and very beautiful too.
This is Flora Danica, a pattern I've always admired.

Isn't this sweet?
These are giant blue pieces from their museum collection.
At the back there is an overstock room where all the china is reduced quite drastically.  There are shelves and shelves of it.  There wasn't just blue transferware, but I took photos of it because...well I'm sure most of you know my love affair with blue and white china!

I think this art nouveau style  from their museum is so fabulous.

And tucked away in one corner was a small room,
filled with bargains.
and more bargains.

It was just an an amazing experience, but do you know what the most amazing thing of all was?

I didn't buy one thing!

My reason for going there was to sell some china that I had bought at a yard sale, so I was very determined to leave with a profit.  It took a lot of willpower, but I didn't even look at the bargains.  That way I wasn't tempted to buy anything.  I was very proud of myself.

  1. Oh my word. I would love to be able to go to this place. I look at them online all the time. What a fantastic tour. You really do have some kind of will power. Hugs, marty

  2. Rhondi, thanks for the pictures!! I always want to stop there and have ordered for my Fransciscan Desert rose patern(yellow roses) but I always have my family with me and we are always ready to be at the farm after 2 days drive.

I'm proud of you for dropping, taking pictures and nothing else. I wish you'd have shown your treasures that you sold.

    Dish love to ya

  3. It looks a wonderful place to visit!! You must have very good willpower not to buy anything, well done.

Thank you for taking the photographs and sharing them on blogger. Jackie in UK.

  4. What a dishaholics dream! I can't believe you didn't check out the January sale dishes...that's where I would have been. Thanks for sharing.

  5. What self control, Rhondi! I had a great time 'shopping' from your photos. In the right corner of the Chintz photo I spied my little breakfast set with the toast rack - a treasure from my aunt.

  6. What a fabulous place, Rhondi. I would have spent hours in it, especially the discount room!! It must have taken a lot of willpower not to buy anything!!

Love all of your pictures. The china cabinets are beautiful!

  7. Ok, now that is what I want my HOUSE to look like! Wow -- heaven, pure heaven. And you didn't buy anything? Not even for 75% off? You are a better man than I. Or, woman, but you know what I mean.

    Great tour! Thanks!!!

  8. Wow!!! Heaven, I'm in Heaven... hi,hi
And the bargain corner; I would LOVE to have a look there!
    Love, Joni

  9. Gosh Rhondi, I don't know how you got out of that room without buying something!! You're a better woman than I am, that's for sure!! xxoo

  10. WOW. I bought a couple of fiesta ware cups from them last year over the web. Great price. I was looking for some shamrock mugs or cups with them, but so far they are too expensive. It looks like a great place to go to. I would go crazy in there.

  11. Oh, my! Let me catch my breath for a moment! That would be like Heaven. Thanks for taking us along to see all the wonderful pieces there. If I'm ever in that area you know it will be the top of my list! ~Adrienne~

  12. OMG! I want to go there!! That is amazing! I have heard of them before but had no idea what it looked like. I don't think I would have had the same willpower you did. :-)

  13. Oh my goodness, I could never go to a place like that. I LOVE all kinds of china, and the blue and white would be so hard to resist. Thanks for the beautiful tour.

  14. I love this place. I have been many times. I stop real often when I come back from Jessica's
house. I could spend hours. Did you go back where they check your china that you were selling? It is quite an interesting process.

  15. Wow, that looks like a place I could happily spend hours in. I don't think I'd be able to walk away from there without a purchase, especially in the bargain room.

  16. It's as tempting as a fabric Mecca! NC has so many places that draw me to it. Good thing that I live far enough away that I can only shop online & not be tempted to impulse shop.

  17. Hi Rhondi,
Now that would be the place for me-I saw a few things in the bargain room that might have been hard for me to leave behind!
    Thank you for sharing,

  18. Hi Rhondi, I live a few miles from there an have never been in the building! I think I would like the room with the mixed pieces and I'm sort of a mix-it-up sort of person! Congrats on your will power! xo,

  19. Rhondi this was fascinating to see and read as I remember getting the Replacements catalog in the mail for many years! What a fabulous place to visit. I love all kinds of china but I don't buy much of it as I don't have a large home and even less storage space. I do enjoy seeing it vicariously through so many blogs.

  20. This place is amazing. I've been there. Beautiful things, anything and everything! You've got quite a bit of will power.

  21. This place is amazing (and beautiful)! We have a similiar type store in the city where I live. I have lived here my whole life and never stopped in until just last week. I saw many pretty things...gorgeous things... but I almost choaked on the prices. It was fun to look but I left empty-handed too because I didn't see anything I wanted bad enough to pay the prices they were asking. Maybe I'm just spoiled by thrift stores, antique malls and eBay! :)

  22. What a beautiful place! I have heard of Replacements but I didn't know it was that close to Charlotte! I may have to take a road trip some day. Thanks for sharing!!

  23. Did they give you anything for your dishes? I've been there several times and love that back, back room! I see my sister's Johnson's Brothers (blue and white) in one photo!

  24. Oh yes, Replacements is one of my favorite places to visit. I've been to purchase, and I've been to browse. I think the way the business was started is fascinating.

What did you sell, and how did you do? My experience is that what they were paying was shocking compared to their selling price. I have a set I would love to sell, but ...

  25. Oh, I am in love. I could spend all day (and a bundle of $$) in a place like that!

  26. WOW! You have amazing willpower!!! I have purchased things from Replacements online, but have never been there. The REALLY reduced items, are they under $5? I might go there for mosaic reasons...

  27. You certainly do have will power, Rhondi. I don't think I could have left without something. Now tell us? Is that new found cash earmarked for a new set of dishes? LOL

  28. Rhondi,
I have ordered replacement at their online site. I would never be able to go there in person and come out without buying anything. Home Goods is enough temptation. Just seeing your beautiful pictures, I found pieces I would have had to buy. Thankfully, I don't live close enough to NC to just up this weekend. Thanks for the pictures. Somehow I always thought it was a warehouse type, nothing beautiful like it is.
    Have a beautiful day.

  29. I would LOVE to go there!!! There used to be a place in Michigan called Pontiac Pottery on Telegraph Rd that had wonderful china and pottery. They closed years and years ago. I have used Replacements Ltd. for my silver....never knew they had china too! Great post and many thanks to Food With Style for introducing me to your site.

  30. Rhondi, Thanks for stopping by -boy do I wish I could have been with you when you visited the china shop - to die for!!!

  31. Oh my goodness... I can't believe all that wonderful China!!!!!!!!! Stunning.

  32. I've been often and just love to spend an hour or so looking at so many beautiful things. I've also done the 'behind the scenes' tour which is so interesting. You've reminded me, I too have some china to sell there - I must get organized and get an appt.

Rhondi, just found your interview with Decor Medley - great job. Thanks for mentioning me - I still remember our lovely lunch at your beautiful home.

    Hugs - Mary

  33. What an amazing visit. I've ordered from them, but never been there. You have incredible will power!

  34. You were in Paradise! Lovely to share all these with us! I love the green, hand painted garden set. I think I have the little plates and one dinner plate. Very nice post.
    Have a nice week!

Thanks so very much for taking the time to leave a comment. I always read every one. I am glad you stopped by for a visit. Hope you'll come again!
