A Blogger's Brunch

What a wonderful day I had yesterday.  It was the blogger's brunch at Penny's home.  For any of you who have never met Penny make sure you go and visit her at The Comforts Of Home . Three of us from Charlotte headed out early in the morning on our adventure. We talked all the way there, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way and arrived a half hour early. Penny made us all feel so welcome! Her home is so inviting and beautiful.  She is a talented mosaic artist and a great cook too.  She served a delicious brunch: 4 different quiches, still hot from the oven.

Homemade pumpkin bread and fresh tossed salad, all served buffet style in her beautiful kitchen.
Penny invited anyone in North Carolina to ocme for brunch and  14 of us plus husbands showed up!  Aren't we a great looking group?  So do you want to know who everyone is?
Front row: Sam, Penny, me, Diane, Penny our wonderful hostess, Donnie and Kim

What a delightful group of women.  We talked and laughed and took pictures of each other.  It was quite funny to see 14 women walking around Penny's home snapping photos of everything and everyone.   Then we went shopping to some of Penny's favorite places.

Here we all are as we descend upon The Screen Door.

It was filled with all sorts of fun things. I love this chair!

And these boots would be fun to wear!

We had a fabulous time and by the end of the day we were all tired and happy! Here are the 2 Penny's taking a rest.

Thanks Penny for a beautiful day.

China Replacements

Do you like china?  I know many of you do and you would love this place! It's Replacements Ltd near Greensboro NC.  At Replacements they carry pieces of china patterns that have been discontinued.

There are cases and cases of plates showing the most popular patterns they carry extending down a very long hallway.

More cases

In the main showroom there are more cases filled with more beautful china, showing lots of serving dishes and  other accessories for the patterns.

Several cases full of chintz which I would love to own.

The china cabinets that house the china are all different and very beautiful too.
This is Flora Danica, a pattern I've always admired.

Isn't this sweet?
These are giant blue pieces from their museum collection.
At the back there is an overstock room where all the china is reduced quite drastically.  There are shelves and shelves of it.  There wasn't just blue transferware, but I took photos of it because...well I'm sure most of you know my love affair with blue and white china!

I think this art nouveau style  from their museum is so fabulous.

And tucked away in one corner was a small room,
filled with bargains.
and more bargains.

It was just an an amazing experience, but do you know what the most amazing thing of all was?

I didn't buy one thing!

My reason for going there was to sell some china that I had bought at a yard sale, so I was very determined to leave with a profit.  It took a lot of willpower, but I didn't even look at the bargains.  That way I wasn't tempted to buy anything.  I was very proud of myself.

A Day Full of Sunshine

Today was filled with sunshine in so many ways. Part of that sunshine was the delightful visit with someone many of you know.  Her back porch is lined with rubber boots in wonderful pastel colors.
Little vases of flowers and a welcome sign greet you.
I enjoyed a cup of tea with Lily....

while Lucy tried to knock over a few things on the tabletops.   Daisy was a little camera shy.

I'm sure you guesssed I had a visit with Fifi at her wonderfully inviting  home.  It is filled with all kinds of   beautiful things.  She is just as I imagined she would be,  gracious,  down to earth,  creative and delightful to be with.    I was too busy enjoying her company to take many photos, but you can see lots on her blog.  She is also a very talented lady and the editor of Romantic Country magazine.

Her home is charming and so is she.

Thank you Fifi for a lovely afternoon visit.
