Thankful Thursday

Every Thursday I try to write about something I am thankful for.

I was looking at the photos of our trip to Canada earlier this summer and reminiscing about the great time we had with my sister and her family. We were constantly laughing, playing with the grandchildren, drinking tea, eating and talking.
Here we are, my sister and I with her two girls holding their children and my daughter beside me. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for all my family, but today I am just showing a picture of the ones in Canada. I love you family!!!
We often take our families for granted don't we? Why don't you call someone in your family that you haven't talked to in awhile and tell them you love them.
Maybe they need to hear it today.

To anyone who read my post yesterday. It should have said it's NOT a quilt!

Thankful Thursday

This Thursday I am thinking about my dad. It is his birthday today. He would have been 88. He was the greatest guy and I am so thankful to have had him for a father. He taught me so much about having integrity, working hard, caring about others and loving unconditionally. He died 28 years ago and I still miss him.
I love this picture of him in his air force uniform. He was so handsome.
Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor has also posted today about being thankful for someone in her family who is no longer with them. Today I am thankful for my awesome dad. What are you thankful for today?

Happy Birthday To Our First Born

It was thirty three years ago today that we started on this adventure of being parents and what an exciting time it has been.

Birthday parties. Here is John at 3 years old. Graduations. Here is graduating from eighth grade.

More graduations, birthday parties, family vacations, soccer, basketball, awards, part time jobs, moves, sickness, celebrations, weddings, and now you are a man with a family of your own.

We love you so much and are so proud of you. We thank God every day that he gave you to us and we especially thank him for healing you of cancer. What would life have been like without you?

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday to You

Today my baby is 26 years old. After having 3 sons, the Lord blessed us with a daughter. She has been a delight to us her entire life and now she has grown up to be a young woman that we admire and respect. But she'll always be our little girl. Here she is in Texas with 2 of our grandchildren.
Happy Birthday Barb. We love you.

Thankful Thursday

Hi friends

I am thankful for my parents. They created a secure and loving environment for my sister and I to grow up in. We knew we were loved and they loved us unconditionally. They taught us to have integrity, to give people the benefit of the doubt, to think of others, not just ourselves. They taught us about working hard, being creative and the importance of perseverance.

This is a picture of them with my dad's mom and sister at a party for their wedding just after the war. Don't they look happy? My dad enlisted when he was barely 18. Although he was in the Canadian Air Force, RCAF, he flew with the RAF (English air force). He was shot down and the family had no word from him for a long time and didn't know if he was still alive. Then he spent 3 years in a German POW camp. So they have good reason to be smiling. They were a beautiful couple inside and out. I sure do miss them. What are you thankful for today?

Looking After My DH

Good morning friends.

Boy is it cold here for NC. In the 20's. Brr... Just a quick hello to all my friends out there in blogland. I have to take my Darling Husband (DH) to the hospital today for surgery . He has carpal tunnel syndrome. This is how he spends all day every day when he is at work: on the computer. Which is why he has the carpal tunnel. As you can see by the smile (he has the best smile) he is happy at his computer!

They say it's a very quick recovery time and he'll be back at work on Monday. We're praying that all goes well.

Thanks to Heidi's http://celebratetheseasons.blogspot.com/ suggestion I have a good book by Marcia Willett that will keep me occupied while I wait!
