Good Morning

I was thinking this morning about how amazing  blogging is.  There are some of you that I've been connected with for 2 years, some I've gotten to know and care about, some I've met in person and some that sneak in each day, have a look around and leave just as quietly as they came.

There are many talented and generous bloggers and one of them is Erin at The Painted Garden.  I was lucky enough to win a a giveaway with a gift certificate to Anthropologie and this original painting by Erin.  The colors in it are perfect for me. I love it!

Gift # 176 cardinals everywhere flitting around just outside my window.  If you don't know what the gift thing is I'll explain tomorrow.  If anyone wants to join in for Thankful Thursday please copy the button on my side bar.  I'll have a mr linky up for you tomorrow.

I just wanted to say "good morning". I hope you have a wonderful day!

P.S. I hope those of you who love Christmas will forgive me for my ranting and raving yesterday :)

My Talented Sister

When my sister came to visit she brought me a present: a new mailbox that she painted for me! Isn't it bright and cheerful? She even took off the old one and installed the new one! Aren't I a lucky girl?
I had a wonderful time visiting with my sister. She is a very talented artist, so while she was here I got her to paint a sign for our house. If you've visited me before you may recall that I decided to give our home a name "REST AND BE THANKFUL". Here is the sign she painted for me which I am going to place above our front door.

I am a part of the One World One Heart giveaway being hosted by Lisa. If you'd like to have a chance to win something I made, click here.

There are a few things blooming in my garden. I'll take some photos of them today to show you.

Goodwill Find

Good morning my dear blogging friends.

What are you up to today? I am going to visit my daughter's kindergarten classroom this morning which should be fun. I have heard do many stories about the kids it will be fun to see them in person.

Last week when I took you shopping with me and you saw all the beautiful blossoms I bought something at Goodwill and I said I'd show it to you later.

This is what I got for $3. At first I thought it was a real paint by numbers but on a closer look I think it's just made to look real. Anyhow it just spoke to me. I love the old fashioned feel it has, the rich color of the roses, the blue vase and blue and white plate.
Here are some close ups. See how it looks like paint by numbers. It even has some texture, but I think it's fake.

We have 2 rooms waiting to be made into guest rooms. We haven't started yet because mattresses are so expensive! Right now we use one of those inflatable matresses if we need it. When I begin to decorate the rooms I think this will be my inspiration for one of them.

Did you ever do paint by numbers when you were young? I did. I'd be curious to know how many others of you did it also.

Hope you enjoy the day. Rhondi xo

Thankful Thursday

Hello friends

It's Thursday again and time to reflect on being thankful. Today I am thankful for my sister. I am blessed to have such a wonderful sister. She has been my best friend as log as I can remember. She is wonderful, kind, compassionate, fun, loving and talented. She always has a smile, a word of advice, a listening ear. When we get together we talk non stop about everything and nothing and drink large amounts of tea.

She is an artist too, like my mother and this is a painting that she did. It's a copy of a Norman Rockwell. There is only one thing wrong with my sister. She lives too far away! Today I am thankful for my sister. What are you thankful for today?

It's The Little Things

Yesterday when I was thinking about being thankful I took some pictures of my sewing studio, but then decided that I was really thankful for the rain instead.
While I was taking pictures I snapped a couple of some of the small details.
I used to do decorative painting, so these are all things I've painted.
Vines on the legs of the table where I have my sewing machine. A folk art style tree and checks on a little bookshelf that sits in the corner of the studio.

Blue folk art flowers on a lampshade in the corner where my chaise lounge is.
Another day I'll show you pictures of my studio but for today, just a few little handpainted touches. It's the little things that mean a lot.
Hope you have a good weekend.
