I am sure many of you are watching what is going on in the news in the US and wondering what is going to happen to our economy. I got this email yesterday. I thought you might find it interesting.
The Birk Plan.
I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child.
So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 ! in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves.
Pretty good plan? I think so.

Sounds like a good plan to me!

I have heard this and I havent done the math but it seems like the most common sense thing in the world! Why can't our "leaders" see that getting money out there for the people to spend is the best plan around!? Even if we only got 50,000-100,000, it would work, think of the savings!
ReplyDeleteWOW - I had not heard that but makes sense to me.Glad your back and your family is safe and sound at home.

ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteThis plan makes alot more sense than the one they are arguing over in Washington!
Thanks for posting. I'm going to copy this and put in an email.

I'm with ya on this one, chick!! I truly love my "neighbor" but I don't want to pay off their mortgage when they made a bad decision! I've written to my congressman and senators to NOT vote for this bailout. If they do I'll not vote for them again.
ReplyDeleteSmooches,
Connie
As much as I wouldn't want to pay for my neighbors mortgage default, the very fact that a house in foreclosure in any neightborhood would drive down your property values (especially if there's more than one). Like it or not we are our brother's keeper. Let's just hope the everyone learns a lesson from this big mess!

Girl, you get my vote for President; you've made more sense in one post than all the rest have all month!
ReplyDeleteI love your idea! It hasn't made sense to my why I should have to bear the burden of bailing out the rest of the world for bad decisions everyone else has made. What a dummy I have been to live within my means, and buy only what I can afford.
Rhondi, If, only...as in...I wish! Love your incite. susan
ReplyDeleteHi Rhondi...works for me! Maybe you should be running for President!
ReplyDeleteHugz,
michele
What a great idea! It makes more sense than what our govt. proposes.
ReplyDeleteSounds very interesting. But, surely it isn't something our elected officials would be capable of conceiving. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGOOD GOLLY...THAT'S THE PLAN I WANT, RHONDI !!!
ReplyDeletelove, bj
Hi Rhondi...Love your name, by the way...nice to meet you...thanks for coming by. If only this plan would be put into action...what a deal! ;-) Bo
ReplyDeleteWell Rhondi - that idea makes sense to me too! I was listening to a Washington State radio station today and heard something similar, so it is in many people's minds! We are impacted north of the border too, but not nearly as severely. I am so sorry to think about the people who were lured into spending more than they could repay - so very sad.
ReplyDeletePresident Rhondi. I'll vote for you!
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for you if you ran for president...Mimi
ReplyDeleteI think I could live with that. I vote for you for president. I think you truely have the interest of the American people at heart.
ReplyDeleteBecky
I have a feeling there is going to be alot of people voted out next time.
ReplyDeleteYou have a good ideal.
Rhondi,
ReplyDeleteI'm with you--sounds like a good plan.

Sounds good! I'd much rather see average Americans handling it than the goobs up in Washington, who have for years made a total mess of it all! Interesting!
ReplyDeleteWant to run for office....I'd vote for you...I was totally against the bailout and for Wall Street bailing out Wall Street. We didn't make this mess...they did!
