Thankful Thursday

I am thankful today that my sister is here for a visit. Although we talk on the phone almost every day, I haven't seen her in a year. In this picture I am about 7 and my sister is 4. There is something special about a sister. She grows up with the same experiences and values as you do. She gets your jokes. She remembers you when you were young and energetic and optimistic about life. We have been through a lot together and I love her more than anything.

While she is here we probably won't go anywhere. We will sit around and talk and laugh, maybe go for a walk. To anyone looking on it might seem like a boring time, but it won't be to us. We will enjoy every precious minute spent together. It will be wonderful!!

Here are the others joining in on Thankful Thursday. Hope you have time to visit them. It helps me be more thankful when I hear what others are thankful for.

Since my sister is here I won't be posting for a few days.
So I am thankful for my sister and that she has come to visit. What are you thankful for today?

  3. Have a great time with your sister. I am so thankful for my sister, too. She lives far away, and we only see each other once a year, but we keep in touch by phone, and more often, by email.

  4. Look how precious, Rhondi! You two are so cute in your matching shirts and hats! I love old photos like that.

I have sisters and nieces (also godchildren), and I'm thankful for them and for the friends who are like sisters in my life. I adore them all, and that's what I'm thankful for this Thankful Thursday. I'm also thankful for new friends like you who host us on a beautiful Thankful Thursday like today!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  6. What a priceless picture of you and your sister. And I don't think what you planned sounds boring at all. I never had a sister, but if I had been so blessed and we were going to visit together after time spent apart, I can think of nothing more lovely than catching up, and chatting and laughing the hours away together. Perhaps also pulling out old photo albums and reminiscing.

  7. Rhondi, I am so happy for you and your sister to have some time together. Having four sisters I so understand your connection to each other. I love your photo. It is a treasure to have those reminders of the fun times when you were that age.

Right now I am going with my sister, my backyard neighbor, to get our hair cut. We'll have lunch and shop etc. I value my time with my sisters so much.

Blessings to you and your sister as you share precious time together this week.

    Love...Jeanne

  9. Hi Rhondi, Enjoy your wonderful visit! Sisters are very special...like you said. They grew up right along with us and there is a bond that only sisters can have. To think, God made it that way on purpose....how wonderful. I think I'm going to go call my sister right now!

  15. Beautiful post Rhondi! I have a sister that I love very much as well. We have always been very close. When I lived in the same country we used to speak on the telephone every single day, but now alas, that I am so far away, we speak only occasionally. I miss our long conversations and I miss her. I have not seen her in over 6 years now.

  17. That's so nice that you talk to your sister every day! My sister and I talk about once a month.
It's great that you can sit home and enjoy each other's company without a lot of "entertainment" and running around! My kind of visit!

    Enjoy!

  19. I hope you have a lovely time with your sister, Rhondi. There's something so special about having a sister - I have two and I'm grateful for both of them.
Yesterday one of my sisters and I took our mother to tea at a new tea room in town - the memories we shared, the laughter - it was a wonderful time, and I'll be you're having just as much fun with your sister.
