Goodwill Find

Good morning my dear blogging friends.

What are you up to today? I am going to visit my daughter's kindergarten classroom this morning which should be fun. I have heard do many stories about the kids it will be fun to see them in person.

Last week when I took you shopping with me and you saw all the beautiful blossoms I bought something at Goodwill and I said I'd show it to you later.

This is what I got for $3. At first I thought it was a real paint by numbers but on a closer look I think it's just made to look real. Anyhow it just spoke to me. I love the old fashioned feel it has, the rich color of the roses, the blue vase and blue and white plate.
Here are some close ups. See how it looks like paint by numbers. It even has some texture, but I think it's fake.

We have 2 rooms waiting to be made into guest rooms. We haven't started yet because mattresses are so expensive! Right now we use one of those inflatable matresses if we need it. When I begin to decorate the rooms I think this will be my inspiration for one of them.

Did you ever do paint by numbers when you were young? I did. I'd be curious to know how many others of you did it also.

Hope you enjoy the day. Rhondi xo

Awards, Tags, Books

Hi

How are you tonight? It seems there are always games of tag and awards going on in blogland. My dear friend Adrienne gave me this award. Thank you Adrienne. There are so many blogs that are excellent that I find it hard to pass this one on and leave out so many of you! So if you are reading this and you have a blog consider yourself awarded and pass it on to someone you think has an excellent blog.

Also my English friend Louise tagged me with a book tag.

The rules are -

Pick up a book of at least 123 pages

Open the book to page 123

Find the fifth sentence

Post the next three sentences

Tag five people.

So I took the book I am reading right now called Quilts From Heaven. Here is what the fifth and next 3 sentences on page 123 says:

I'm quite certain that many of the women who first developed this pattern, Trip Around The World, felt like pilgrims. The Greek word for pilgrim is pareipidemos, which simply means people who spend their lives going someplace. For those of us who have chosen to be followers of Christ, we are spending our lives going to God.

I'm just going to tag one person: Karen at Scrapbook of Inspiration.

Heidi, my sweet friend from The Netherlands tagged me to give a six word Meme. That was a hard one! Here is mine: Laughed, cried, worked, played, loved, prayed. I can't remember how many I am supposed to tag, but I'll just tag one: Deb at Posted From Home .

So that's all for today. Talk to you tomorrow!

Saturday Puttering

Today is a dull rainy Saturday, just the perfect day to stay inside and putter around the house. On days like this our home feels so warm and cosy.
Like many of you, I love to putter around my home, re-arranging things, seeing what I can do to freshen up some corner of our home just a bit. It's nice to have some relaxing music on too.
This all started when I decided to pick some hellebores and euphorbia from my garden. What goes with flowers? Rabbits and birds.

I couldn't decide to put them next to the lamp or not. What do you think?
Hope you are having a nice relaxing day like I am.

Shopping

We do our grocery shopping at Wal-Mart and Trader Joe's. I go to Wal-Mart for 2 reasons: it's very close and their food is cheap. I'd much rather be at a quaint little market where there are huge buckets of fresh flowers and you point to the cut of meat you want and the butcher trims it just so. Every piece of fruit looks like it won a blue ribbon at the county fair and the breads are from a European bakery. It is just a lovely experience to shop there. Not so Wal-Mart. It's in and out as quickly as possible, just get what I need and leave.

Today however I don't mind going to Wal-Mart. Hop into the car with me and I'll show you why. Fasten your seat belt!

Isn't that a beautiful drive? The beauty of the cherry trees this time of year here is spectacular and these are some of the photos I snapped from the car as I was on my way. The first photo was a redbud on my street. For today at least I enjoyed my trip to Wal-Mart. Oh and the Goodwill is right across the road so I usually stop in there too. I got something great today which I'll show you another time.

Hope you have a great weekend.

True Words

Hi friends
I don't do two posts in a day, but today I am. My dear friend Karen left a comment on my post "Tea In the Garden" concerning my comment on staging the picture. Her words were so perfect that I wanted to share them with you.
She said,"We who live in blogland see everything with our hearts and surely it looks prettier and seems kinder than other lands. Perhaps things in blogland are a bit like that within photos, but the hearts of the kindred spirits who live here are pure and the words are truly perfect."
All of you readers have been such a blessing to me and I just thinking how fortunate I am to have met all of you. It has meant so much to me.

Thankful Thursday

Hello dear friends.
It's Thursday. Today I am thankful for the beauty of God's creation. Look at the wonderful colors and detail in these flowers growing in my garden.

II am thankful that I have a garden that has all these beautiful flowers blooming in it. I am also thankful for spring with all the promise of hope and new life it brings with it. Just being thankful gives me a whole different perspective on my life.
What are you thankful for?

Tea in the Garden

Good morning
I was thinking that it's been awhile since we've had a good chat over a nice hot cup of tea. So I have taken the teapot and cups outside so we can enjoy this beautiful spring day. Let's sit near the azaleas. I'll get a chir for you.
Better move the tea tray nearer to your chair so you can reach it.
That chair looks pretty uncomfortable so try out this cushion.
Now I want you to tell me everything you've been up to over the last couple 2 weeks while I was away. Then a little bit later I'll take you for a walk around my garden so you can see what's blooming. So tell me, what's been going on with you?

Isn't blogland fun? In actual fact it is a little chilly right now to sit outside and the chair in the photo is just for decoration. You can't sit in it because the seat is broken. Also I crammed everything in a corner so it looked nice, but it's behind some bushes so it's not a place to sit at all. Makes me wonder...when we see those beautiful homes in our favorite magazines. Are they really anything like the photos?

Well I hope yours is as beautiful a day as mine is. We really will do that garden walk later. I am so glad you were able to stop and visit with me today.
