Girls Just Want to Have Fun

Girls just want to have fun, so the song says and there is a lot of fun going on in blogland this weekend. Cielo at The House in The Roses has organized a garden party. Make sure you visit her to see some amazing and beautiful gardens.

Welcome to my garden. Let me show you around. This is a little garden by our side door. My gardening angel greets you as you arrive.
I have fun little pots of sedums and grasses.

There is a sign that gardeners sometimes have in their garden which says, "You should have been here last week!" I kind of feel like that because my garden isn't very full of color right now. These were blooming a month ago. So were these.
This is what's blooming this week, but they are scattered all over the garden, so I thought you'd like to see a close up before we go for a walk through the garden.
Come with me. The favorite thing in my garden right now is this hydrangea bush. I just love it, don't you? I've picked so many blooms already and it's still full!

Let's take a stroll through my garden.

Around the side of the house

Down at the edge of our driveway. I love the Japanese maple!
As you can see, my garden is mostly different shades of green right now. I love the variegated hosta and how it stands out against all the plain green. Perhaps some of you remember Daisy, the deer that had taken up residence in our yard in the winter? Well I think she has been back because some of my hostas have been nibbled!
I have lots of ferns.
and wooded areas.
That's just a little tour of my garden. If you have time, I'll pour you a cold drink. It's pretty hot today!

Two girls who like to have fun are Kari and Kijsa. They are featuring mantles and asked us to show you what are amntles look like.
Here is the mantle in our TV room. As you can see I prescribe to the theory that more is more! I love to mix books, china, pictures and candlesticks on my mantles.

Here is how the same mantle looked last Christmas with a symmetrical arrangement.
This is the summer arrangement on the mantle in our living room. It is just a fireplace front, not a real fireplace but I get to have fun decorating a mantle!!
Here is the same mantle last Christmas.
Make sure you visit Kari and Kijsa to see a lot more interesting mantles. You'll enjoy seeing their wonderful pictures too.

Beverly At How Sweet the Sound is celebrating Pink Saturday. Go visit her and see all the other blogs who are featuring PINK.

So as I said "girls just want to have fun" and there's lots of fun going on in blogland this weekend. Hope you have a great weekend.

Rhondi xo

  1. I love your green dishes! And your mantel at Christmas looks like something out of a decorating magazine. Beautiful! -Julia

  2. I love all your mantels! And you are right...lots going on this week...both in blogging and the real world. Have a great weekend.

  3. There is a lot of fun going on this weekend!! Your mantel looks fabulous- love that you showed so many ways to style it- everyone looks great!!! Have a wonderful weekend (and a lot of fun!!)

    kari & kijsa

  4. I hope I can find the time to visit all the blogs this weekend. I was just looking at my mantle tonight thinking...boring!
You have great ideas! My mantle is brick from floor to ceiling. I can't really hang dishes they way you have. They look great and plates are usually "cheap" and when you want to change them out, you can always use them as dishes!!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. Rhondi, Absolutely beautiful! Love the green plates and geraniums potted print!

    Hugs, Rhonda ;)

  6. I love your beautiful mantles Rhondi and the lovely way you have of presenting and decorating them! Thanks so much for sharing!

  7. What lovely photos. I love the way your mantle looks so different in each and reflects the changing seasons

  8. Hi Rhondi, thank you for visiting my blog....the first day was yesterday...I got involved with it mostly because of RMS, and I have a mantle that I have struggled to decorate "just the right way"...since I moved in last December. Oh, and by the way your mantle looks great!...I like seeing the different styles. On another note, could you tell me how to get my playlist into my blog?....

  9. Thanks Rhondi.

I love every single one of your mantel displays. I have fun playing with our mantel, too.

I hope you're out having fun.

  10. Such a lovely garden. I very much like the sculptured welcome stone.

  11. Hi Rhondi:>)
Your garden is beautiful, I was going to participate but it hasn't stopped being cold and rainy long enough this week to snap a silly picture. Your hydrangea is fantastic. What a treat to have a huge bush of them! Your mantles look lovely.

  12. I see you have added your garden pics! I love the twig furniture. All the garden pics are awesome!

  13. Your garden tour was beautiful and you have a fantastic house and garden. It is interesting as to what we can grow in our gardens depending on where in the world we live. Some of the gorgeous things you can grow I wouldn't be able to grow in my garden living in a differnt part of the world. Thanks for showing us your beautiful mantles too.

  14. Your flowers are so beautiful! I enjoyed the tour of your gardens. I especially like the bent willow chairs in your woods. Those are awesome!

I also love your beautiful mantel. I like how you change it for each season. It takes on a whole new personality each time.

  15. Love the green dishes on the mantle!

We have very similar taste when it comes to garden art. I own the same garden angel and the same triangular topiary with finial on top (in your 10th photo). Fabulous!

  16. Rhondi your garden is so beautiful! So many colors and that blue Hydrangea well that just stole my heart!Shh...don't tell my peonies!
Do you put them in water and glycerine to keep their colors for future use? I read today on somebodys post on the how to keep thier color from fading as you dry them..I have the recipe if you want it let me know!Oh to have your blue Hydrangeas..I have the Pee Jee whites! I enjoyed this tour of your garden! :) NG

  17. Rhondi - everything is just beautiful. Your mantle is so very pretty. Your garden tour - divine!!! It is all wonderful and I truly enjoyed. Thank you so much for sharing!!

  18. I love your hydrangea bush! Gorgeous..
And the collages of flowers are just lovely.
    xoxo Nita

  19. Rhondi, your garden is delightful! That seating area in your wooded glen is calling my name!

  24. Hi Rhondi,
Love the garden and the mantles.
    Thanks for sharing.
    They are so enchanting.

  25. Hi Rhonda, love the pictures of your garden and especially the Mantles, I like how you show pictures of different seasons. Very nice!
    Love, Ann

  26. Rhondi your garden is magnificent!Love the pictures of your mantle and the differnet ways you have it all looking. Very nice. Jo x

  27. Oh Rhondi... I'm so sorry I couldn't add you to our party list and what a nice thing you'd done to share your sanctuary with everyone visiting.... I hope you can participate next time.

  28. Love the mantels. You do great work.

  29. I have been so wrapped up with our tag sale that I have missed a bunch of blog reading! Your gardens are wonderful----my house is void of plantings, except in the front. I hope to get going on the yard soon. Our back yard looks like a golf course and my husband loves it like that. He says it's easier to mow when he doesn't have to wind around plantings. ugh. I will win before all is said and done! ;-) Your mantels are just great! What a cute idea of sharing mantels. I hope to have time to check on other blogs regarding that topic.

  30. Love your mantle decorations! Blue dishes are my fav. Also really cool flower collages.

  31. Your gardens look amazing I love the collages you made of all your flowers. Have a great blog break!!!

  32. Lovely pictures, Rhondi! And I wish you a good time with your family.

    Hugs, Carolien

  33. Hi my friend Rhondi,
Just popped in to see your blog; the yellow background looks wonderful. So summery - you know how I feel about yellow!
I knew you were sitting in the chair; could tell by the curve of your arms. I like seeing all your familiar things; makes me feel closer to you. Have a wonderful time with all your family. I miss you....much love, Karen in Brasil
