Garage Sale Bargains

Hi

I am very excited at the great response there has been to the Front Porch Party. You have all been so kind and willing to join in. It is going to be fun. You can still join in by leaving a comment here or on the previous post where I explain everything about it. Thanks to all of you who have posted it on your own blogs. The more that participate, the more fun it will be.

I haven't been to Saturday yard sales in quite awhile but decided to go yesterday. I'm glad I did! I got this great metal planter with nice chippy white paint for $8. It will look great on the porch, just in time for the party! This vintage yo yo quit in perfect condition was only $15. It looks like it will fit a double bed and has a really interesting edge where the yo yos have been formed into triangles.
My third buy of the day is this hooked rug for $7. I have no idea where I'll put it but I couldn't turn down such a bargain. It's about 4' x5' So it was definitely a successful Saturday at the garage sales.

Today we are enjoying a quiet Sunday. My hubby is watching NASCAR on TV and I am sewing the binding on a quilt. I think 2 of our kids are coming for dinner and I'm going to make shrimp scampi.

Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday

Rhondi xo

  1. OH MY! Rhondi what a fab yo-yo, you got that for a steal, woohoo! Great loot.
I certainly plan to participate in the Porch Party, as long as I can figure out how. I'm still new to blogging so if I do something wrong, do let me know! And thank you for hosting it!

  2. Rhondi, you were quite the success. Why haven't I lucked on a yo-yo quilt? I've been looking for one for decades.

Have you been over to Donna's - In The Attic to sign up to participate in her quilt giveaway?

I took my front porch pictures this afternoon. I can't wait for the fun.

  3. We had a busy weekend and I'm glad for the chance to sit now and relax with my ladies in blog land.

Your treasures are great! The chippy planter is my favorite. That would end up on the porch and in every room of the house before the year is done!

  4. What wonderful bargains you found! I'd love to go with you sometime but we would have a problem. We would both want the same things! Maybe that's not such a good idea.

  7. Rhondi,

Three great finds, but my favorite is the yo-yo quilt! What a steal!
I have been thinking about making one, but I just don't know if I would ever get it finished! I would much rather run across an antique one like you did!

I would love to join in on your Front Porch Party! Sounds like fun! Count me in!

I will post something about it on my blog tomorrow! I hope it is a GREAT success!

    Thanks!

  9. Wow, you made out like a bandit at the garage sales! My kids call them gar-baj sales, but I love them. I sure do love that hooked rug. It was a steal!

I found bargains of my own this weekend and posted them. The rest you'll get to see for the porch party!

  10. Wow! They must have great sales there in NC. We get lucky on occasion but rarely 3 finds in one day. Goodwill is my fave here. Well, it's 50 miles away but we are really in the sticks.
    Congratulations on some terrific bargains!

  11. Oh, my goodness! I love all of your garage sale goodies but, that yo-yo is the best! $15.00! I have a yo-yo coverlet in progress and I know how much work they are. You are one lucky garage saler!

  12. Hi Rhondi,
Love your bargains! The rug is my fav, so beautiful, how could anyone part with that?

I wish I could be here for the porch party, but will be on vacation to Franklin TN...I will try and post from my BFF's computer but we have to unload her moving POD and get her settled in her new home first!

Hope your weekend was lovely with your hubs and kids!

  13. I just adore the bargains you found! Lucky you! They dont' have garage sales over here. They have Car Boot Sales and they usually have them on Sunday mornings when I am otherwise occupied! Sad, I know! Oh well. I shall just have to enjoy that type of thing vicariously through you! By the way you've been tagged!

  20. You really found some quality things at the yard sale! That planter is so sweet and I can already picture it on your front porch. Still wish I had one to join your party. The yoyo quilt is amazing. It must be because I am working on a square yoyo tablerunner that I appreciate the beauty of it that much more right now. You can see my yoyos on my blog now. I hope to show a result soon but it is not going together that quickly as I am working on my medallion quilt too.

I cannot imagine people getting rid of handmade items for so little. I am glad someone like you found them as I know you treasure the work put into them.

    Hugs ~
    Heidi

  27. I see we have loads in common. I guess if you were following my blog then you know that I'm in NC just like you;). We both like the same stuff( I read you comment about you falling asleep on the couch during NASCAR on my blog, lol)---I'm envious you found a yo yo quilt. I've always wanted to make one. I've been unpacking stuff this week to put my sewing room together. I got lots of scraps. I'm only about 4 quilts behind.
